Park Hopper Plus-water park

We are leaving in 4 days and everything is starting to run together in my head so please forgive me if this is something obvious.

We have park hopper plus tickets. Going to one of the water parks one day does NOT count as using a park ticket day, correct? For example, 5 day php tickets could be used Mon.-Thurs at parks, Fri at TL, and then Sat at a park. Or am I completely confused?

We bought a 6 day ticket with PHP in 2016 and it did not count the water park as a park ticket day. Not sure if this has changed with the new ticket pricing structure though.
