Package handling fee at Port Orleans (French Quarter & Riverside)

Last year we stayed at Coronado Springs and had to pick up a package we’d shipped to ourselves at the resort’s Business Center, where we paid a per-package handling fee (a few dollars each). I’d always understood that this kind of fee mainly applied at resorts that actually have a Business Center - and Coronado, as a convention resort, has one.

For our upcoming trip we’re staying at Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside, neither of which has a Business Center as far as I can tell. Reading Disney’s official Mail Services page, a couple of things stood out and I’d love some real-world confirmation:

  1. Shipped packages/mail: Disney lists a flat $6 per-package handling fee for any package “received through the Front Desk or delivered to your room” - so it sounds like there’s no way around it, whether you pick it up yourself or have it brought to the room. If you’ve shipped something to yourself at either Port Orleans resort recently, were you actually charged the $6? Is it applied consistently at the moderates, or does it vary?

  2. Grocery deliveries: For grocery orders (Amazon, Instacart, etc.) the page says it’s $6 if Bell Services brings it to your room, but free if you pick it up yourself in the lobby. Has anyone done the lobby pickup at Port Orleans - does that actually work as written, no charge?

  3. How does it work in practice? When a package arrives, do you have to call or stop by the Front Desk and ask for it, or does the resort proactively let you know / automatically deliver it to your room?

Just trying to plan ahead and avoid surprises on the room account. Thanks!

Here is the official Disney info:

Under “mail” it does state there is a $6 charge and it will be delivered to the front desk or your room?

I just left Fort Wilderness and was charged $6 fee.
