Order For Restaurant Reservations

Hey All,

My 60 day window is coming up, so I’m going to be making restaurant reservations, I’ve done my research and I think this is the best order to reserve them in, based on how popular the reservations are, but please let me know if I’m getting anything wrong. I’m also putting the restaurants which are closest to my check in day nearer the top of the list, since, well, they’ll have been available for longer.

I have split reservations across two hotels, so that means I’ll make the reservations in two batches… details below.

Space 220 - 6pm dinner
Akershus - late breakfast
O’Hana - late breakfast
Hollywood & Vine - Fantastmic dinner 620pm ish
Boma
Sanaa
50s Prime Time Cafe
Teppen Edo

Then for week 2
1900s Park Fare (Breakfast)
Ogas
Teppan Edo
Polite Pig
Jungle Skippers
San Angel Inn

Oh and one more thing, for a few of the days we aren’t quite sure on the time we want to book it, so were thinking on booking the same restaurant for like 5pm and 8pm… is that allowed. Also on a similar note could we book two Epcot restaurants for the same time and then decide nearer the time which one we want?

You don’t have a reply yet so I will share what I know.

Last I checked the system wouldn’t let a guest hold more than 1 ADR in a 2 hour period. I don’t know if things have changed. I think some folks may have come up with some “workarounds”, but I have never tried any of them.

I would prioritize Space 220 and Ohana in group 1. I don’t know that you’ll have much difficulty for anything in group 2 - maybe Park Fare and Oga’s? That said, I haven’t booked all of these restaurants recently so things may have changed. In general, the consensus is reservations are easier to get lately vs two years ago.

The only workaround I know for reservations is to have someone else in your party book for the duplicates. They limit overlap for the same person, but other people in your party can book overlapping times if they use their own account. Just don’t link all the people on each reservation.

I am trying to remember, but I am not sure you’ll be able to eat this late with a Fantasmic package. Just for your planning purposes. Most of the actual meals are lunch if I recall.

Easy nowadays. To the point that I don’t have one yet for Sunday and I’ll work on it day-of based on our activity

I think those do tend to top out around 5pm

I would agree that only Space 220 and 'Ohana might be challenging to get. But all in all dining is not the hunger games it used to be

Good to know it’s not the first thing I need to book

Good spot on this, I hadn’t noticed they all stop around 5pm

This is the way to duplicate reservations around the same time. I’ve done this several times.

Dining packages are for the first showing, if there are two showings that night.

And I agree that reservations aren’t that hard to get, for the most part. I just looked now. It’s about 12:40ish EST and everything on your list still has wide availability 60 days from now, but Space isn’t available at 6 pm. Space still has tons of other times available though. So if you are searching at 60+x or even at 6 am EST when your window opens, you will likely get your pick of times.

I don’t know how many people are in your party but if it is 2 people, search for 3 people. 2 people often will not yield reservations availability!

Aside from the busiest weeks, it does indeed seem a lot easier right now. In mid january I was able to book anything I want with a couple of days notice. I booked San Angel Inn the same morning for 5:30pm, and a 10:30 breakfast at 'Ohana the day before.

Just a couple of examples but I was seeing a lot of availability all around. I considered 50’s Primetime and Sci-fi and both had same day availability. Whenever I opened up the reservation page and searched for something on short notice, I would see Ohana availability as it shows up first due to the name ('O)

I just did a test today ahead of booking tomorrow and everything I want is still available, so that means I could risk not getting up at 6am to do it. But will I take that risk? Tune in tomorrow to get the latest exciting update in the saga of dining bookings.
