You couldn’t make anyway because it’s shawn’s birthday
Oh fine
I mean you could but you’re all “no it’s shawn’s birthday”
NOOOOOOOO!!!
I’m very late on this thread, but wanted to echo others with my favorites and add some of my own.
There’s a trail on the left side of the Tree of Life, kind of across from Creature Comforts where eventually you’ll come to some rock walls with holes in them. Each hole will focus your attention on one of the animal carvings on the tree.
I love to grab some food and sit down by the water at either Flame Tree BBQ or up near Yak & Yeti. Unfortunately there are no more boats with characters or music, but still really peaceful.
Smellophants in Storybook Circus is cute.
The details in many of the shops at MK are surprising when you take the time to observe!
Eat upstairs at Columbia Harbour House. My favorite areas are the section above the road, overlooking Rapunzel’s tower, and overlooking the Liberty Belle riverboat.
Character paloozas at Epcot if you can catch one. The brick walkway beside Regal Eagle and the area behind gates between UK and Canada are both known areas. Times are regular, yet also random, and never an every day occurence. I’ll grab some lunch and hang around for an hour or so to see if they open the gates at either. I’ve met some really rare characters. There’s one behind the gates past the Tower of Terror exit too.
Place a mobile order for Sanaa (kids meal of course!) and take it to eat in one of the lounges on either side of the lobby. There are rockers out on the covered balconies where you can sit and watch the animals. Not tying up a table and you still get to see the animals. You can also go outside and the CMs will tell you all about the animals.
Gorilla Falls trail and Majarajah trail. Soooo many people skip these.
Watch the antique carousel at Boardwalk. I’m not sure how often it plays/moves but we watched it for a while around 11/11:30 one night. Resort was very quiet and it was almost enchanting.
Others have mentioned:
Duck Tales is one of my favorites! The missions are different every time. There’s a skip button for all the narration. Check your app to see what time it closes. Play Disney will actually not load it after that time.
Pirates Adventure has been showing in the app as open, but in reality has been closed for months now. If anyone’s been recently I’d love to know it’s reopened! It was closed on my trips in September, November and January. I’d recommended several friends stop there on other trips through late February, all reporting it locked. All of those months it showed open in MDE. By January I stopped at a blue umbrella and the CM said it was closed due to construction in adventureland blocking some interactives. But he was also confused by why it showed open on the map. This is one of my favorites, and better at night as many of the interactives will light up. The building to set up your treasure hunt (there are 5 or 6 different ones) closes at 6, but the interactives don’t turn off. I always try to have one set up before I leave so I can do it on my next trip if I’m in adventureland before the building opens or one evening.
This is a new one to me (and I spend plenty of time by my tree!!). I am definitely going to look for this!!
This is a good one! I just recommended this very thing to a friend who is traveling next week!
Ok I knew about the other one but not this one! And I’m planning to have a meal at Regal Eagle! Noted!!
This is a definite for me this go. Does every country have one? Without giving spoilers if you could only do three which three would you do?
Ok I’ll make note of your notes in the wonky open/close. For some reason I have it in my plans as ending at 5p. Like duck tales this is a definite (assuming I find it open). But you mention better at night. So it doesn’t close at 5?
There are 7 of them. Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Japan, France, UK…you can pick your starting country (I always start in Mexico, because Duck Tales is more fun with a to go avocado marg). I think Germany is my favorite?
Pirates adventure is typically noon to 6. It’s activated by your magicband or card and interactives don’t actually get shut off, so as long as you have an active treasure hunt set up you can do them after 6. Some of the spots may be difficult to find in the dark unless you’re familiar with them though.
My favorite one at night has gunpowder spread across some boards and it illuminates as the spark goes (I pretend it’s tinkerbell in my mind, though that’s not fitting) and when it gets to a small boat it flips the boat up/over.
Unlike Duck Tales which is typically 9-8 I believe and the app simply won’t let you into it after it closes.
My favorites are probably Germany, Japan and France. They all have some cool things though. Some will be simply enter the number of books you see in the window (I totally made up that example) and then it gives you the next video to watch. While others are really neat things you’ll set off or even taking a ping pong ball that dispenses from a machine across the street and putting it in another machine to activate something. There’s 5-6 different “stations” in each country, but you may only have 2-3 in your mission.
I forgot about DiVine also, but she’s usually finished for the day by 2:00.
Mine too!
Also, you can repeat countries if you want, and you may end up with a different adventure and things to do/activate there.
For snacks/food -
At Disney Springs - the tikka masala poutine at Eet, dole whip flavors at Swirls on the Water, everything at polite Pig, taco cone at 4 Rivers food truck, and everything at Amorette’s (I’m partial to fruit tarts). Jock Lindsey’s is a fun place to sit and enjoy a drink and decent snacks.
If you happen to be at Boardwalk, Blue Ribbon Corndogs is yum. But I’m a big fan of the pickle corn dog. It’s also a delightful place to sit, watch the entertainers, enjoy people watching, see the boats, catch bits of the Epcot fireworks, etc. My husband really likes Abracadabar but I thought the drinks were just ok. Fun ambiance when it’s not too busy though.
Oh i see!
Also, I’m realizing now that something that happened near POTC when we were queued for Jack Sparrow during at MNSSHP was a Pirate’s Adventure thing!
I was just considering this yesterday. I like corn dogs and I love pickles, so I imagine I’d like this even though it sounds bizarre
I just found this thread after it was linked to last night. I’m stealing ideas for my own solo trip in
July that is a short version of yours. VGF-YC
Now solo thanks to spouse job change!
Try every Main Street Vehicle. You have to sit up top in the front seat at least once. It is amazing. And then seeing the nerves of steel on the people who drive the cars, amazing.
Dance with the dancers in Discovery Island. So much positive energy.
The only trouble here is these are in the morning and I don’t plan to go to parks in the morning. BUT if I’m awake and the mood strikes, then yes!
I find I wake up early on vacation, especially by myself, so just in case!
I have most definitely noted it
I mean, truly, I could go just for that and still get on a bus for a water park pretty early or skip over for a hot minute in the morning on the other day I’m at BLT
FYI … The Keys To The Kingdom tour stops there for lunch and sits upstairs (multiple times depending on the number of groups).
There are several little rooms up there. They only take up one of them.
But definitely a good point and something to keep in mind.
Loving all the Amarula love in this thread
