Now what? The waiting

Our tickets are purchased and linked to MDE.

Our DVC stay is booked. (Almost…have to book two nights at Vero Beach at the 7 month mark.)

We have made our park reservations, and worked out what we want to do each day, including presumed Christmas After Hours event nights.

We have calculated food costs, and which ADRs we want when.

Now what? The wait until December might end up killing us. The wait until the 60 day mark for booking ADRs might kill us as well.

All you can do is live vicariously through trip reports until then (well, and also enjoy real life). I’m in the same boat for Oct. But at least there is a trip on the books.

Although I think 60 day mark for ADR is much more sensible, it is an odd feeling to being 130ish days out. I feel so far behind but still way ahead of planning.

Maybe 60 Makes more sense but I did like having something to mess with at 180!

Yeah it’s weird feeling. Disney is definitely way less fun now. From the lack of planning to the day of stresses with G+ or no G+, ILL or no ILL, trying to game the system if you do G+ it’s just… so much less fun than it used to be.

Do 3 different TPs for each day, based off of morning, mid day and night time riding for the hardest LL you olan on getting per day (if your doing G+) since you wont know when you’ll get it. If notMaybe do alternative park plans for each day, in case you have to switch parks. It will give you something to “plan” for now.

Have you completely researched all the Festival of the Holiday offerings? Decided if you will book a CP dining package? Plan if you will spend sometime in DS and do the Christmas Tree stroll?

Sadly, yes. We have done those things!

DH and I had this discussion yesterday over lunch.

We are going to tentatively book next years trip…and wait.

If masks are still required, we’ll cancel. Whether people think they’re advantages or not, they are affecting morale on both sides. The CM’s for having to yell repeatedly and for guests being yelled at or having to watch others get yelled at.

If “lack of Disney training” and or shortages are still a thing, I’m cancelling.

I’m sorry, I can’t forgive being chirped at about masks 4 times before I even enter the building, but I can have a teen standing on his seat in SE screaming about he he’s touching the ceiling before the mammoth scene with his flashlight on to show his friends in the car behind. He was grabbing at props and being vulgar the entire ride and not a peep from the attractions hosts.

If Chapek is still in charge, we might cancel. The ship has some pretty gigantic holes, and a lot more popping up everyday. Business is booming because of the travel ban being lifted and people rescheduling cancelled trips, but at some point people are going to be tired of spending 3 times as much and getting none of the “Disney feels” they’ve come to know/love/expect.

We made scavenger hunt bingo cards. DS really enjoyed the All Ears “challenge” YouTube videos last year and after we booked our trip, we entertained ourselves with discussions about what should be included in our scavenger hunt based on our resort, park days, dining locations etc. We have a 10 day tournament planned for our trip and the winner gets a $25 Disney Gift Card. Kept our energy up and gave us something to ponder together day to day.

This is why I spread my 10 nights out throughout the year.

I can’t really relate. We had a trip booked May 2020, then moved it to October 2020, then May 2021, then November 2021. By the time we got to 60 days, I wasn’t all that excited and didn’t know if the trip was going to happen. By the time November arrived, we were so busy with other things that we barely had time to pack and the G+ situation was making me angry. It didn’t hit me that we actually were going to do the trip until we crossed into Florida on our drive down. I think I was numb from all the cancellations and lack of planning.

We aren’t doing another Disney trip in the near future.

Do what I’m doing. Book a trip in June, too.

I’m taking two trips to WDW this year because I “have” to. I have flight vouchers from 2020 that need to be used.

But for 2023, all bets are off. There’s DLP, which will have had a lot of new attractions completed. But there’s also Tokyo Disney. I’ve even looked at flight prices. They’re comparable.

If I don’t cancel, I’ll be here for one of your trips!

Also, I’d love to hear your thoughts about CM’s and their “Disney-attitude” in the non American parks.

According to Bricker, the ones in Tokyo are fantastic. He also reckons the two Tokyo parks take the top two spots in the world ranking of Disney parks.

Oh, Tokyo disney is a fantastic idea, but only if you share with us.

Ironically, we are planning to do a family trip to King’s Island in June for several nights!
