Tonight, I am packing, and since I haven’t done a cruise like this, I am WAY overpacking. I can pack for a 3 night WDW trip in my sleep, and fit it all in a small carryon suitcase with lots of room to spare. This trip, we are already planning on checking bags, and I’m packing things in a very un-me way…. extra in every category… and there are so many categories of things to pack: swimwear, dresses for dinner and Palo, casual wear, exercise clothes, etc. Holy cow! I’m overwhelmed! I suppose that if I become a frequent cruiser, I’ll learn to pack more efficiently.
I can say for myself I wear “normal clothes” for such small parts of the day that I can often rewear them. I spend big chunks in swimwear and dinner/PM in dress clothes. So regular t-shirts and shorts are maybe breakfast and some time between swimsuit and dress-up.
I usually overpack though by nature.
I’ve been seeing some indifferent DCL dining reviews which makes me want to book Palo on Pirate Night, but that’s my only plan.
I approve of this plan ![]()
I’m on a plane! We departed almost 30 minutes late, but will land only about ten minutes behind. Not bad. It’s my first southwest flight since they changed to assigned seating and so far I’m not a fan. It certainly did not speed up boarding. But I also do not like change. We are testing out the southwest / value resort checked bags straight to resort perk. Will report back on how that goes! For now, it will allow us to uber straight to Epcot, which is nice… So long as our bags make it to All Star Sports by this evening.
We have loose plans to start with lunch at Epcot and ride guardians with a lightning lane. I didn’t purchase multi pass so we may ride single rider test track and Remys and anything else with a low wait. Then will decide between magic kingdom or Disney springs. I’m looking forward to this “free Disney day” before we get on the boat tomorrow.
Thinking about getting a bottle of champagne to take with us on the boat. Neither of us are big drinkers but it might be fun to toast the trip on our verandah and use the rest for mimosas Saturday morning.
Have all the fun!!
We have landed!
Our bags made it to All Star Sports by 2:45. What a game changer! Makes me want to stay at value resorts from now on.
Epcot has been great! Very quiet. We had kids meals at connections, rode single rider on test track, Guardians with a lightning lane and then standby and are having a break before riding soarin. What a lovely bonus WDW day!
It’s Cruise Day! We are packed with our bags by the door and relaxing in our room.
Soon we’ll get some food court breakfast and then meet the cruise crew in the lobby.
I slept fitfully but did get adequate rest.
So many unknowns ahead! Can’t wait to try a new experience!
Will you head to Arendelle for lunch or eat at the buffet?
I prefer the former. I like to be waited on.
The buffet is pretty fun too!!
I love the All Star beds. I sleep very well there.
We plan on having lunch at Arrendale. I like to be waited on too! What a smooth process. We’re on the bus! It left promptly at 10:13 (scheduled for 10:15).
It is a full bus. Maybe two open seats.

We are checked in and waiting for our boarding group. To upgrade to concierge verandah would have been $2500 more. We declined. That’s WAY more than we paid for the cruise to begin with.
Our dining tonight is Marvel. The one I’m least excited about, so good to do it first.
We liked Marvel more than I expected. The Spiderman we had was excellent & we liked our meal. But I hear you - nice to get your least favorite out of the way.
I’d like to try concierge some time, but every time I look at what the benefits are for the cost, I back away. Still, it remains on my bucket list! Looking forward to how things go for you. Have the best time!
let’s see… after lunch we stopped at guest services so I could put a gift card on my onboard credit and ask again about concierge. The lady at the port seemed to wink at us as she told us to double check on the ship. We’re on a list and they’ll tell us by 6 pm. Who knows.
Then we wandered and wandered. We are walkers (my friend walks 7 miles a day and I do 5). We checked out our room, which is totally nice. Our luggage arrived. Our room host introduced herself.
Then, muster drill. Boring but painless. They moved the sail away party indoors so we are having a drink while we listen to it in the background.
Waiting for mickeys mainsail to open to try to get an elusive Evie plush. I didn’t know about this until my friend showed me a cute dcl video featuring evie. Super cute. And they sell out fast if they are available.
We officially renamed the Seas the adventure show “Goofys Fever Dream”. It was so random but also delightful.
And we LOVED Marvel! Our lunch server Young happened to be our server for our dinner rotation also! He remembered us from lunch and is so funny. And the food was so tasty. I loved the bao bun. The salad and scallops and pasta were very tasty. And I’d requested a quieter table and we were way back in a corner where we had no close neighbors but still were able to see and participate. All in all a fantastic experience.
