New Hotel Room Finder: Testing Opportunity

Found a small error in 2 pairs of OKW Building 62 rooms that had their map positions swapped:

The studio on the left (room 6216) had its position swapped with the adjacent 1-BR (6215). Same thing on the second floor.

That’ll be fixed in an upcoming release, either later today or tomorrw. I also checked the other buildings’ first floors to make sure it wasn’t happening elsewhere. It only seems to be in Building 62.

@len I was going to send in some photos for the room we are staying in at in OKW - and when clicking the link get an error.

Argh. Thanks! I’ll fix that. That’s the correct email address though. Thanks for sending in a photo!

Looking at CSR rooms, I had the date changed to next month, when we’re there.

Used the back to CSR button to look at another building and the date changed back to today’s date. Is this what’s supposed to happen?

I don’t think so. Thanks for finding this. I’ll add it to the list.

A couple of things went live this morning on the Room Modal page (the one where you see the specific room), after @meekomist’s post and talking with @linsalt:

  • Changed label from “Room Features” to “Features” to match language on filters
  • Added missing “Balcony” column to match the Balcony filter
  • Fixed typo in HTML mailto tag for hotel_photos@touringplans.com

I looked through all the posts and didn’t see this mentioned, but sorry if it already was.

For Caribbean Beach, I can’t select Higher Floor as an option. At first I thought it might be because my Room Type was cancelling that out, but trying different room types never unlocked Higher Floor as an option. The attached screenshot shows that there are matching rooms on Floor 2.

I’m on Windows 11 with Firefox.

Thanks @LadyRapunzel !

I’ve confirmed there are no CBR rooms for which Disney has the attribute “Higher Floor” in the Floor description. I suspect that’s because the CBR buildings are all 1 or 2 floors. And that means the “Higher Floor” attribute should not be available as an online check-in option with Disney.

Thanks for checking on this!

Thank you for looking into it!

I guess I assumed that they would label “higher floors” relative to the height of the building. A top floor is a top floor, whether it’s floor 2 or floor 20. Silly Disney!

Regarding All Star Movies, Bldg 1, in the building map, showing matching rooms in red, the direction box is pointing incorrectly.

I only checked one room, 1732 - its facing direction was described correctly. Per the resort map indication of north.

This?

I … I think that’s right? It’s really early and although I’m drinking a large McDonalds coffee, it may not have kicked in yet.

Here’s the same building in Google Maps:

Let me know if I’m just completely not getting that. Thank you!

Looks right to me. At least that building does.

On my laptop in chrome, yesterday, the arrow was reversed :upside_down_face:

But yes, that’s the correct direction.

She said ASMovies.. You’re looking at Pop.

At most it 5° off counterclockwise assuming Google Maps is reasonably correct.

It’s not like we’re using that map for an orienteering course :compass:

Edit:

Yep

Ahhh, I was looking at Pop, but @janamelia was looking at Movies. Yeah, I see it now.

OK, will fix that. Thanks!

I know this thread is mostly about the room filtering, but can a graphic like this be added to the single room page, but with just that one room highlighted?

Since there’s an &room=1234 in the URL, we can then directly access the room page. I’ve definitely hunt and pecked my way through the room finder in the past after getting my room ready text so I could better understand exactly where my room is. Maybe it’s just me, but the directional signs actually hung in the resorts are confusing and a map like this is so helpful

Okay, the update has been made and we’re uploading the images shortly. Give it a day for the old images to get removed from the cache, please. (It’ll probably be sooner than that, but just in case.)

I think we can do this. Just to be clear about what should happen: If there’s a “room=1234” in the URL, we should highlight only that one room?

I think the &room=1234 is what triggers the single room page to render (the one with the room view photo and stats)

://touringplans.com/hotel_maps/disneys-animal-kingdom-lodge?room=1464

Add an image like this to the page that highlights where the room is located
