New franchise coming to Universal? (News dump)

Universal has said they’re not. Iger has said they’re not. It’s been 16 years. I’m so so tired of this.

Do you mean RECENTLY they said this? Or 16 years ago? I’m confused by your response. 16 years, ANYTHING can change. But if you mean that recently they have said they aren’t…I’m still not sure there isn’t room for discussion at the possibility. If you are tired of it, don’t participate.

Something has (potentially) changed.

And my discussion on the matter is a theoretical one, not that I think Disney should or shouldn’t at all. That is, IF it happened, what would that entail.

I don’t really care one way or the other.

That’s what I’ve been saying, and keep getting told NO

It probably is a no…but if Universal secures the rights to DC, it COULD be the thing which changes the narrative.

Wait and see, as always. Speculation is fun. But what really happens is ultimately all that matters.

We have a very trustworthy forum.

I don’t think Transformers has changed since it opened. It was a new building and ride when it opened (copy of Universal Hollywood ride).

Really? I thought it used to be T2! I had it in the wrong location, apparently.

Honestly.

With exception of Spiderman, That’s what Universal has done with Marvel. The Incredible Hulk Coaster may as well be called “Hulk: The Ride”; Storm Force Accelatron is just a rethemed teacup ride; Dr. Doom’s Freefall is just a themed drop tower; The stores and quick-service dining areas are minimally themed and anything could be place there.

T2 was in the location that turned into the Bourne show.

Another victory for traditional animation over “realistic” cgi

For me, that’s not really it (although, I don’t disagree that the “realism” in the Transformers ride is a bit laughable). It is that everything moves so fast, with so much happening on the screen on the same time with so much noise, that it is more or less information overload. I had to ride it a few times before I finally figured out what was actually going on. Hence my “frenetic mess” description of it. I actually think the ride could be much better if they simply reduced how much is going on!

It seems to be the trend even in movies, though. My favorite superhero movie of all time is “Unbreakable”. Why? There’s literally almost ZERO action that happens, and yet I’m compelled to watch it over and over again.

You watch an MCU movie these days, and the action scenes more or less bore me. I know they will just beat each other to a pulp, destroy a bunch of their surroundings, and in the end, nothing ends up happening. Everyone walks away. Rinse and repeat.

Let’s reflect on the concept for the original Superman ride:

Perry White sends us out in the Daily Planet’s new news-copter; we follow an aerial battle between Superman and an assortment of minor villains on a 3D screen with some practical effects thrown in – so far not that different from what it became. But where it differs was instead of a flat track, the vehicle is slowly climbing up, and the big climax is a controlled drop where Superman “catches” us, as opposed to the mere simulation of a drop where we land safely in a web

“I’m so tired of this”

No one was forcing him to participate

No one was also suggesting that Universal “give” Marvel back – we’re suggesting Universal extort the shit out of Disney
