New Discount Offers Posted for New DVC Members through December 11,2024

They posted the revised discount offers this morning for new DVC ownership. Not as good as the last offer. Boo

Does this mean no incentives at the Poly?

Not sure because they don’t go on sale for new members until 10/29/24.

ETA: I am curious though to know if existing members have been offered discounts on the Poly?

I just got an email about buying at the Poly but it does not seem to include a discount!

There is mention of special offers but when I click through it is the Ft. Wilderness offers.

There are incentives for the Poly. Hoping they get better than this in the future though!

Are these for existing members?

There has been speculation that there might not be any incentives because they expect it to sell quickly and easily even without

Not surprised they are not great

Especially because there are no incentives for under 150, even though this is for existing memebers!

I guess if you buy 150 points and take the magical beginnings that prices it at $195 a point. Not sure if there are other discounts that could be applied (credit card, welcome home, etc)

What’s the magical beginnings? And it’s $20 per point?

Yes those are for existing members

Oh I wasn’t sure if magical beginnings was a thing for new resorts. Is that just your first year of points then?

Im very interested in buying but wouldn’t until next year anyways so hopefully they’ll add on some more incentives by then!

It appears like it would apply to Poly because of where it is on the page, but I am not 100% sure!

That’s where they buy your first year of points back from you. It works best if you get a use year that is soon. So if I bought today, and got a December use year, I could sell them the 2023 points and then get my new points in December 2024.

Of course I would want to match my September use year, so that would not be as fun - no points without barrowing for another 11 months!

Hmm this feels like an accounting scam though. You are still paying $215 per point. You could rent them for more than $20 probably and certainly use them. Not sure if it’s fair to calculate it into the price.

This is a a $7,000 savings.

Saw on Disboards there’s no magical beginnings on Poly (at least for now) so that’s annoying!

I kind of have to laugh at the idea of calling it "magical beginnings "… Congrats, you spent $20,000 we’ll toss you back 5% and then you can’t actually use your points till next year! Quite the magical beginning…

I don’t think Disney does the math that way, that accounting was mine. They describe it more as a bonus. The bonus value really varies by purchae date and use year. I.e. will you have new points in 1 month? Or 11 months? How many months of dues are you paying?

So I’m thinking through the math a bit more. I think the $20 is fair. It is the same price as one time use points. And it would be hard to rent them out for more on your own. But for me, cash off the end price for no hassle is worth a lot.

At $215 pp with the 2066 expiration, one year of points is worth $4.89 pp. If we bought today, we’d pay 3 months of dues, so that is another $2.05.

With all that considered, the fair “savings” from magical beginnings would be $13, so I would consider it to be to $202 pp. (And to be fair, I gave similar credit for banked points when I bought resale).

Edited: never mind. Booo DVC.

I got the Poly discount email today. Probably because I clicked on the last email. It’s striking the difference in West Coast incentives!
