Same, but we did have push buttons by the time I was a teenager.
Right after marrying we were living in Norfolk with our wall phone having push buttons. But then we moved to Missouri and our black desk phone was rotary. But not with that ringer as we were one of 4 on a party line. I do not recall much about the party line ringer. I suppose cuz I was working and not at home much unless I was sleeping. (One phone jack - in another room)
