I would almost think the northeast. I feel like when I was little anyway all soda was coke. I think now it’s more all soda

I wouldn’t have guessed the NE! I’m in Louisville, and growing up, everything was all coke. But even in northern KY, they used pop instead, so the region was fairly small.

I am not sure about this. Maybe part generational/part regional? I grew up in Massachusetts and we said soda (I was born in 82 for reference). My grandparents grew up in Boston proper and all soda was tonic. I never remember a time when everything was a coke. That is just wild to me.

This data comes from a reputable source, but obviously there can be local variation. I notice southern New Hampshire is not uniform, so maybe that accounts for the difference.

We don’t call things Coke here unless it’s a coke, lol. I’ve heard “cold drink” and soda all my life, lol.
