A couple weeks ago DD11 started human growth hormone injections to treat growth hormone deficiency. She gets a shot (we call it a pokie) each night around 9:00 pm.
Today DS9 asked me: How is she going to get her pokies at Disney World since we will be in the parks?
It’s a good question so asking my Liner friends. Is there a place in each park where we could give her the shot each night in relative privacy? She have been laying down for the shots and rotating between getting the shots in her thigh and her butt, but we could probably try having her stand up too.
I’d prefer not to go back to the resort for this if possible.
Pretty much every restroom has a sharps container so you can do it in any restroom if she can tolerate standing up. When I was a kid, I gave myself my shots (insulin) pretty much anywhere, anytime. I never cared who was around, and no one around me seem to care either. But, I can understand if this is all new for her that she might not feel that way!
My DS gets growth hormone shots nightly but I believe his is synthetic and they are not strict on timing so we always wait till we’re back in our villa, even if it’s super late!
But I agree restroom or first aid center should work fine if you need to keep to your schedule.
We don’t know yet, but it’s years, not months. She’s not happy about the daily shots, but being growth hormone deficient can impact organ development in addition to height so it’s something she needs to do.
