Let me ask it this way - have you ever had Uber send you a text while you were en route via one of their drivers to say “Hey it’s taking longer than usual” or “Hey you don’t seem to be going in the direction you planned” and asking if you need help?
And when you factor in the transfers via Lynx you end up taking just as long, or longer
I just looked through some of my Lyft history. It’s not exactly what your looking for, but on Apr 19, 2024 MCO to Riverside in an XL at 1:30pm was $51.92, not including tip
Yeah we were saying further up thread that the basic Uber/Lyft generally runs about $35ish each way and the XLs run about $50ish each way (plus tip, for both).
Depending on who’s riding, it can work out to be less expensive. But for a single traveler you’re not probably going to get cheaper than Mears. Sure you can ride Lynx for $2 but then you need a Lyft from DS to wherever and after all is said and done you’re back to $16pp for the Mears
I have gotten these texts, but I don’t remember if I was using Lyft or Uber at the time. I use Uber more often, so there’s a good chance they have this system in place.
Gotcha! Good to know ![]()
There are NO transfers.
I think she’s talking about at DS to get to your resort.
Here is the transcript from the News clip, NO transfers. It runs MCO to DS, it’s ONE hour
A bus in Orlando is getting travelers from Orlando International Airport to Disney Springs for $2 one-way.
LYNX, the public bus transportation system in Orlando, launched the express route in April 2024.
It picks passengers up on the ground level of Terminal A in spots 38 through 41.
The LYNX route is called Link 311, and it runs seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
One-way, it costs $2, or you can buy an all-day pass for $4.50.
WESH 2’s traffic anchor, Meaghan Mackey, rode the bus from MCO to Disney Springs. From start to finish, it took one hour as scheduled.

“I fly into the airport every year, and I have found that the LYNX bus is the cheapest way to get from the airport to the condos I’m staying at,” said Tim Lynch, who took the bus from MCO to the Orange County Convention Center.
Luggage is allowed on the bus, but there is no storage, so everything you bring has to stay with you at your seat.
“I definitely recommend it for tourists. I recommend it for locals too. It’s, like, good for carpooling, it’s good for the economy I feel it helps create business,” said Jennifer Carter, who works at Disney Springs.
Round trip it is two hours from MCO to Disney Springs and back.
LOL… that isn’t clear
But yes, I guess technically you need to “transfer” into a different form of transportation to get to your resort from DS…. I’d order a Lyft from there IF I had luggage.
That happened the last time I did a ride share, but I can’t remember if it was Lyft or Uber. Probably it was Lyft.
Excuse me? Hello? I am here to make trouble/take things in yet another dangerous direction again. Sorry/notsorry #meaculpaless
Um, I’m looking at the prices for rental cars on Kayak.com and these prices are NUTS. Like, $5/day for a Kia Sorento?! Am I hallucinating??? Is this why people so often rent cars?! (We usually drive to WDW for long vacations, and I dislike flying, so I don’t really spend a lot of time figuring out how to deal with airports and getting away from them.)
I’m, like, thisclose to cancelling my Mears reservations and getting a small SUV for my four-day jaunt. It looks like they’re THE SAME PRICE. Is this really realistic, or are they gonna hit me with a surprise DeSantis tax at checkout???
Kinda freakin’ out here,
Bay
Yes, that could be true and yes, this is why I rent so often: many times the cost of using some other form of transportation is roughly the same - or in your case - more than renting. And renting means I am in control of my destiny at all times. It provides a little more convenience, especially when my trip might involve a lot of resort to resort transfers, so that even if it’s a smidge more it’s worth it to me.
Do beware and avoid renting when it is not in the terminal and requires a shuttle. I would strongly advise against that. And know whether you are looking at a pay now or cancel without penalty fee; I only book cancel without penalty, and 99% of the time I book pay later.
I also always make sure the price I’m seeing includes all fees and taxes. $7 doesn’t work out to $28 total - go through the booking process all the way to the end to see the absolute total cost.
But yes, the cost can be very low! On average I am paying about $100 for mos 4-day trips in recent days.
So so so so helpful! All of these deals have “free shuttle bus to pick-up” on their listings. Thank you!!! I’ll keep looking, and I won’t cancel my Mears until I’m sure I’ve gotten a better deal.
Not sure about kayak but on Priceline I can filter my results to show only “in terminal” as well as “pay later” and a bunch more categories including preferred companies
