Marvel Cinematic Universe

I like it and all (except for Quantumania) but I’m ready for a different type of storyline. Just for a bit!

We haven’t even had an Avengers multiverse movie yet.

It’s coming. Or has it already happened and we just aren’t in the right universe yet?

I dunno

Harrison Ford seems too old to be a credible president. How sure are we of his cognitive abilities

Nicely done. He’s 82 years old

Captain America looks promising!

As does Agatha. I really really hope it sets up a return for Wanda somehow :crossed_fingers:

I just got back from seeing Deadpool & Wolverine. That is all. I feel anything else I say would be a spoiler. :joy:

DH and I have been watching a lot of the X-Men movies this week. I think I had seen most of them years ago, but he hadn’t seen any. They’ve been a good refresher for me, and learning for him. Deadpool is a favorite of his, so I thought he needed to be aquainted with the Wolverine side of things before we see the new movie. We’ll probably see it next Tuesday daytime, when tickets are very cheap.

I did that too. Not all, and I definitely watched several out of order but I got the idea.

Yep, us, too. I would like to see them all, just because I’m a bit of a completionist. But also because some of the articles about “what to watch before the new movie” had comments about most of them that indicated there could be a connection (such as a character or a mention of something) to the upcoming movie. The articles had lists with varying movie orders. I’m trying to be selective on what I put DH through, and not overwhelm him.

I watched Infinity War first. In the theater.

I’d watched GotG. And Ant-Man. I knew of Thor and Capt America but I’d not watched any previous Avengers movies. I have since then watched every Avengers movies.

I have seen parts of a Wolverine movie. Based on my Avengers experience, I’ll experiment without any more Wolverine. See how it goes.

 I wonder how long til it’s on tv.

We started with Iron Man. We’ve watched all the MCU movies and Disney+ series, plus some of the other series - but not much at all of the X-Men and Wolverine movies. Our nieces and nephews were really into X-Men, our sons weren’t at all. So we didn’t watch X-Men. Those movies started 8 years before the first Iron Man movie. Now we’re trying to catch up, more or less.

We really like the Deadpool movies, which mention his dislike for Wolverine. I enjoy inside jokes, so I’m doing my homework to understand it better. If you’ve only seen parts of a Wolverine move (there are a few), I can understand not doing more.

You should do fine. Director Shawn Levy has said this is a film to just enjoy without needing to do lots of homework. It’ll probably be a while before it’s on D+, knowing how Disney likes to milk things for the money…

I liked it. It was very Deadpool.

Here’s how out of order I watched any X-Men movies: The first one I watched was Logan, which was spoiled by watching Deadpool 2. :joy: I recommend watching Logan because it’s just a good movie and I was able to follow it with very little X-Men knowledge.

This is because they’ve had re-boots of sorts, so it’s a little like trying to watch all the different Spider-Man iterations. But to complicate things further, they often kept the same actors and just disregarded any sense of continuity with past storylines. I’ve learned that some of the movies I enjoyed watching are hated by fans. I’m guessing that comes down to comics fans vs me knowing nothing going in.

I think this is true also of Marvel, especially with the comics. Hulk and Spider-Man to a degree.

This is us. Except I am your DH and you are me. Well some of the earlier ones I saw in theaters and loved and re-watched with DH once upon a time and I think we saw the first one with the younger aged Charles and Erick (but no in theaters, probably on Netflix?).

This is the list (in release order) that we decided to watch before going into Deadpool & Wolverine. We finished Logan last night. And man, that was such a crazy movie. Good but so heart-wrenching. Anyway, at some point today we’ll try to get to Deadpool 2 and if we can finish it start, Dark Phoenix. Then tomorrow night we’ll finish Dark Phoenix and then The New Mutants so we can hopefully see Deadpool & Wolverine Sunday, but if we don’t get to it next weekend, it’ll be next weekend for sure!
