MagicBand2

I have a MagicBand2 that I bought in February 2020. I was thinking of using it for an upcoming trip. However, it has a sort of powdery coating to it. I’m not sure if this is the plastic breaking down or if it just needs some sort of refurb?

Not sure what this is but it could be the plastic breaking down, or a decorative element decaying, or battery acid (I doubt it’s that last one but :man_shrugging:).

It will work regardless (for the things that don’t require battery - opening your room door, tapping into the park and LLs, paying with room charge, etc.) but if you want a new one this might be your excuse.

I’ve never had a 2 - is it still an issue for them to not stay closed and fall off one’s wrist?

I’ve never had an issue with this for any of the generations of Magic bands, but others have reported it … with every generation of MB. If it happens, I recommend a clip or rubber band.

Thanks for the suggestion! And nice to know it’s not a 100%-probability event.

Actually, I’m trying to avoid buying a new one for this trip. Two nights, one day in Epcot. I may just get a KTTW card.

I didn’t have any issues with it coming off. IIRC, my husband had his come loose once. I think it may depend on how active you are, do you unconsciously rub or bump your wrist again things, etc. There are Etsy sellers that have little plastic clips you can use if you’re worried about it.

Yeah, that happened to some of mine. I assumed it was something to do with heat, or the sun.

Plastic doesn’t last long in Arizona. My kids’ bikes and sports equipment turns to dust after a couple of years. Kinda crazy.
