Low crowd days, but resorts sold out?

I know nobody has a crystal ball for these things, but we have a trip booked for 2/1 - 2/7. I picked this week because historically it hasn’t been very crowded and the crowd calendar for those days looked good. Magic Kingdom on Sunday is a 3, for reference. I have Pop booked but I keep checking rooms for my dates anyways (in case something opens up at another resort) and they are completely sold out. Nothing at any resort. That’s crazy, right? Does that mean my plans are off and the parks are going to be packed??? I can adjust if I need to. We were hoping to not have to rope drop but we can and that’s going to impact my LL picks when I get to that point. Is it normal for the resorts to be sold out but still have low crowds? I don’t think I’ve ever seen no rooms at all being available, I tend to change my reservations a lot as I get closer. IDK. Help lol.

I don’t have insight - but I was having trouble finding All Star resorts for all of February too. And none of the places like Priceline and Expedia has them, either.

I have been watching hotels and noticed that the weekend 1/30-2/1 are super busy/full. I think this has to do with a dance competition: UDA High School National Competitions

I found plenty of options if you want to check in on 2/2 or so a split stay. It’s just Thursday-Saturday that seem to be at capacity.

It’s possible that the parks will be crowded that weekend or very possible that everyone will be competing :woman_shrugging:

The resorts always sell out as most guests are offsite. It’s not an indicator of crowds.

I think the best comparison is the wrek after Thanksgiving - Decemeber 4-8, the resorts sold out early on, but the crowds weren’t bad at all. It was definitely low to medium level crowds, with EPCOT being the busiest.

Not sure if you are searching for the entire week, but if you are, it’s possible that a given resort could be sold out for the weekend, so a search of 6 days that includes that weekend would come back as unavailable, especially if there is a cheerleading competition that weekend.

If this is the case, try searching for Sunday or Monday through Thursday and see what comes back.

I believe I’ve read that most resorts are sold out frequently. It doesn’t necessarily equate to high crowds in the parks. I’ve have five different resort stays where we did not go to parks, either before or after cruises, or just a resort weekend by the pool to escape the cold Kentucky weather.
