Lots of DLR questions

We leave for our first DLR trip on September 17th and I have questions.

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
This is now Villians Grove. We aren’t doing Oogie Boogie. Is the trail accessible during the day?

VQs / BGs
It appears there aren’t any VQs or BGs except for World of Color?

Trader Sam’s
Any tips for going to Trader Sam’s? We’d be going for drinks, not dinner.

Rise of the Resistence
Any strategies for getting on this ride? We weren’t able to get a BG at WDW.

Fireworks
Suggestions on where to watch fireworks? We’re fine with not being able to see the projections; the fireworks are my favorite part.

Thanks!
Charlene

We were just there a few weeks ago. The wait isn’t nearly as bad as WDW. If you see the wait time at 60mins or less go for it. It will really only be about 30mins. (Thanks for that tip @Jeff_AZ ) we rode in the afternoon on 2 different days with about 20-30 min wait.

I just looked and the trail is open till 4:30pm today. I think it is usually open until dusk, so I assume that means they close it early on party nights.

Correct, only World of Color.

Agreed, the only bad time to get in line for RotR is the first hour the park is open, unless you’re ahead of the pack. If the posted wait is longer than 60 minutes, I recommend coming back another time.

I really like watching by iasw because the crowds are typically lower over there and they also have projections on the facade – more easily viewable than the castle. You miss the flyovers by Tink and Baymax.

Another option is to watch from in front of Rivers of America. They have a water screen where they show the projections.

I totally missed this question!! I recommend trying to see Baymax fly. I was blown away with how cool it is.

We camped out for about an hour our first night right at the point where Main Street ends and the hub begins. It got a little crowded there but I still had a pretty good view of the castle.

Our last night we hopped from DCA around 9:00 and just walked to where the back of the crowd was. More space and we still saw Baymax and the blue fairy great! I think the projections are better on Main Street. Maybe because of the flat surface.

Wondrous Journeys is a really great show :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I think the video is proof of that! :blue_heart:

Oh is it the Blue Fairy and not Tink? I vaguely remember that but now I’m wondering if it is both.

I saw her and Baymax. Not sure if it changes. Is that a thing?

Well, right now it’s Halloween Screams not Wondrous Journeys, so no Baymax or Blue Fairy. Not sure if there is a flyover in the Halloween show, but plan to watch it tonight, so will let you know.

Last year they did not have the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail open during the day while it was set up as Villain’s Grove. I can check that out too, but I would not count on it being open despite what the app or website says.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that. They should have Zero fly like they did when the party was in DLR

That’s right! I couldn’t remember. It’s the same fireworks show that was included in the DL party. Or it’s just projections like tonight.

Redwood Creek is indeed open!

But no Zero during projections last night. I guess he only flies on nights with fireworks?

That’s a bummer :frowning:

He did fly on Monday with the fireworks.

They’re only doing FW on the weekend. Zero flies with FW not when projection only (M-Th, unless holiday). You do get the balloon of Jack & other characters on the castle you miss if you’re not in the Hub or MS.

Well, darn. Of course we’ll be there Mon-Thu. I really only like the fireworks. Projection shows = shorter ride lines. :grinning:

Thanks for checking!

Thanks for the info. One final question unanswered:

It’s interesting that BayMax and Blue Fairy were flying with projections only last February, but no Zero with projections now. I was very disappointed.

I wonder why too. I thought he would fly, but he didn’t, when I was there for projections. If anyone does see Zero fly on a projections night, I’d like to know.
