Liners: where do you draw the line on lines?

Or the TSA line - which even with Pre can be a health wait at times. MCO is a mess that way

My family and I won’t really wait for anything (other than 10 minutes here or there). We do the same exact method @OBNurseNH has described. I guess if I had to there are a couple of attractions I would wait 30 minutes for and those would be Splash, RnRC, ToT, EE, & Safari. I wonder if I say that about RnRC and ToT because I wouldn’t feel like I was missing much else in HS by standing in that line?.. Anyway, agree with everyone else about FOP. I wouldn’t hesitate to get in a 90 minute for that attraction. I do everything I can to avoid that, but if that was my only option or a chance to ride it twice after doing everything else I wanted to in the park, I would absolutely do it.

30 minutes is my limit. I’d rather add a couple of days to my trip and use FPs to cover everything than stand in long lines after noon.

Does that still work for the other parks where there are less 4th FP’s available?

I’m glad this was brought up. I thought I just had cranky self absorbed teenagers when they refused to wait too long in rides, even for those we wanted to do. We ended up doing (a little less than planned) because of this, but overall it did not impact our trip by skipping a few rides. We did NRJ standby (big mistake at 70 minutes). one time, we waited almost an hour for EE, after they had been on it earlier in the day, because we didnt think it would really take that long. Everything else was either FPP or 20 minutes or less standby, by choice. we almost skipped Jungle Cruise completely until I was able to grab a FPP for it.
I felt like I had to be defensive to explain to others, “no, we just like big rides without waiting, so we may do less”. I guess it’s a thing.

Yes, but if lines are too long you will not have time to ride everything.

It depends on the ride and conditions. If it is 95 degrees out, I don’t mind waiting 45-60 mins inside waiting for Soarin’ . In those same conditions, I would not wait that long for BTMR even though I enjoy both. Some rides (ex. Haunted Mansion) have nicer queues, so I don’t mind waiting a few more minutes for that than something like Pirates. It really depends on many circumstances.

there’s always FPP available

I’d say about 25 minutes. And the family thought that was a long time (they had no idea how much the tp had spared them). There’s so much we haven’t done so if I can’t fp+, rd or end of night it I would rather skip the attraction than stand in a long line.

I never wait on lines. RD+FP+Good TP=Success. If I Do encounter a long line I point towards the sky and yell”Look, the Goodrich Blimp” and run past as everyone looks up.

Lines? Wait times? What’s that?

My kids, anything over a 10 minute posted time and they won’t wait. I’ve spoiled them.

For me? I can hack about 20-25 minutes. Depends on the attraction and the heat and the queue. I cannot stand stationary for too long or I start popping joints out. Happened in the TSA line at LAX on our trip out on the 12th. I had to argue really hard with the agent to NOT call for an ambulance and that I just needed a wall to slam my hip into. Poor gal, I was in tears (because for whatever reason this one HURT), and was beside herself on how to handle the situation. LOL.

But because of that and my refusal to cave and use a scooter or wheelchair (because that actually can exasperate it sometimes, all the sitting), I do utilize the DAS program along with FPP. So lines aren’t really a thing for us, because I have crazy messed up health problems. it’s spoiled my kids and at this point we will be going several times a year that if we skip something, no big deal.

We go for 2 weeks, we ride everything we want lots of times! Plus we’re liners so we hardly need to wait, but if we want to we will. On DS’s first trip aged 7 he was desperate to do Space - all the FPs were gone (paper system) so we waited 70 minutes - it was posted 110. Didn’t regret it for a second to put a big smile on his face. He pretty much hated MK but he left happy.

Do you know about TSA Cares? The TSA has a phone number to call ~72 hours before your initial flight. They arrange (sometimes that arrangement is to walk up to TSA and ask) for you to be escorted through security if you have any special needs. We use this service for our son and it has been extremely helpful.

My tolerance is around 30-40 minutes. But I usually have one thing in a day that I know I’ll have to stand in line for longer. I don’t mind doing one long one a day, if the others were short.

Question for @OBNurseNH

I may have chosen my FPPs poorly. For one of my MK days I have 7DMT, but I could only get a late time and it’s scheduled as my last ride of the day — so no fourth FPP for me.

Similarly, for my Epcot day I have FEA as my third FPP and, again, it’s scheduled as my last ride of the day.

I’m not sure I want to ditch these two and replace them with FPPs earlier in the day in order to play FPP roulette. It seems unlikely to me that modifying would get me 7DMT or FEA as fourth (or later) FPPs, and I certainly wouldn’t want to queue for them. So it feels like a risk to replace them with different rides at earlier times.

What would you advise?

(To be clear, in both cases my last ride of the day is at about 4pm, because of other things I want to do later in the day, e.g. ADRs etc.)

If by myself I’ll maybe wait 45 (I’m a patient person)
If with my partner…25-30.

IModify modify modify! ETA: modify them for themselves but at an earlier time. I agree that hoping to get them as fourth is too risky.

Either now or when boots on the ground, you may find it quite possible to move those up earlier. I definitely wouldn’t ditch them, but you can click on them and begin to modify for purposes of seeing what else is there. As long as you don’t COMPLETE the process you keep what you have. No worries that you’ll click through by accident. You get a warning: this will replace that - are you sure? Click that and it’s done, but cancel or back up without clicking that and you’re safe!

I know you were directing your question at OBNurseNH, but, if you don’t mind, I have an opinion and hope I’m not intruding.

Say you changed your FPPs to earlier in the day, how will that affect the rest of your touring plans? I think this should be the decision-maker, rather than hoping for a 4th FPP that you may or may not get. If you think there’s room in your TP to massage your ride order, than, as mentioned, definitely give it a try. If changing things up will mess you up, then why not stay with what you have?

All that said, definitely take a look at availabilities on the site. No reason not to check on it, but have an idea of what you’d like, in case it comes up.

No, I didn’t!! Thank you for the information, I’m going to save it for future travels. Usually I’m okay, for whatever reason I must have turned the wrong way and it just set everything into a tailspin!!!

About 20-25 minutes is my max. And I would say we didn’t wait any longer than that on our trip a few weeks ago. I had booked my 3 fastpasses each day and then I started getting extra fast passes. I think we got around 7 or 8 total fastpasses most days. I could probably have gotten more, but we also enjoy attractions that don’t require fastpasses and stopping to eat. We had a great trip!

I wouldn’t drop your fastpasses. I would just modify or go with it.
