OMG it works!! Thank you!
Not to curb enthusiasm and relief - as I know people are fairly desperate to get this to work given the situation and find a solution - but 3uTools should come with a caveat as itās potentially malware and there have been various warnings issued related to it sending data back to the developers in China (including keys , uuid, etc that allow decryption of your phone and cloud data). This is a by product of it being a jailbreak tool primarily and having low level access allowed to your device. Do NOT use it on your main phone or anything with an icloud login enabled.
I would strongly suggest as an alternative using an Android device (any cheap or borrowed phone or tablet, Android v12/13) and FakeGPS from the google store as has been posted elsewhere. Enable exact location on MDE, and turn off any VPN. Choose a location in FakeGPS within the disney parks or a disney resort. Logout of MDE on all other devices. Then cross fingers. Itās the simplest Iāve seen to resolve this. No hacking around or tethering.
Also I am very aware D*sney will see these as compromises (either on forums, social media or via their network traffic/billing systems e.g. the location of the billing and account wont match and start getting flagged) and start blocking them very quickly. So there is no gaurantee here but I hope they sort it out soon via official means.
Again the above just to communicate the use of extreme caution with 3uTools nothing more.
re Android : Iām not going to say how I know, but it works all the way thru to purchase for a resort guest 7 day window ahead.
Not happy about the hoops to jump thru but extremely relieved something works. Will report back if there is some retraction/reversal/failure later on - but so far still valid LLās. I am not relying on anything being completely certain until the passes have been used onsite on the day. These are due to be used next week so will have a full example case to prove the process and will feedback as best I can.
Good luck. Have really appreciated all the comments and trial and error others have done, plus the detailed email list for complaints which I think we should all continue pursuing.
This is great advice. I had delinked everything I could think of before I used it, and should have said that as well.
Iād love to not be forced into this, so I will look harder to see if I can get my hands on an Android deviceā¦ at the end of the day itās back to that risk/reward discussion - itās a once in a life time trip for my extended family, which would be a big enough driver for me to risk 3Utoolsā¦ YMMV!
@tiggertypooh has cracked this for IPHONES in a much easier wayā¦From chat:
On iPhone go to device location services and for the MDE app switch it to never.
Then open the MDE app , click on the 3 lines on the bottom rh corner, scroll down to profile. In here change your country of residence to USA.
Iāve just done this, and after a log out log back in cycle, got to the booking screenā¦.
It a bit annoying as I swear I did that the same before and it didnāt work. Hey ho, take success were we can get it!
There is a similar work through for Android.
Although responsible for posting on TP the process was discovered by someone else on the DIBB which is primarily used by UK residents.
It certainly beats all the other workarounds that have been used.
Yes, posted by @Melco here earlier yesterday. I didnāt even need to log out and back in for it to work.
Itās great news, but shows how ridiculous it is - if I can just change it to say I live in the U.S. and it lets me buy it, you obviously donāt need to be in the U.S. So why not just let us buy it without this messing about?
I agree its ridiculous. And Disney are towing the line regardless - which is daft.
The change-your-residence-in-the-app was mentioned by influencers and podcasters too. But its hit and miss - YMMV is the very apt phrase from AlisonRoe This only worked for me with a VPN attached as wellā¦ In the end I discarded this method as too flakey and went with Android.
I beleive it will also raise flags. The thing here is twofold - credit card systems and billing systems - both have fraud detection and validation processes that get triggered by this kind of discrepancy in geo and account details and personal details on file at each end. There have been a number of reports of peopleās credit cards locking or bouncing on purchase attempts - even within the USA - so even at the best of times their online purchasing seems overcautious. Imagine being locked out of your credit card with your favorite LLās in the basket and only 5mins to unlock it? Its nuts. I would hope Disney create a longer basket time (say 10mins) to help with this and other issues (like juggling selections in your list when you have a large group which is super difficult currently).
In any case its great people are getting some kind of saving grace here! via any of the 3-4 methods.
So I checked with member services to confirm about DVC. Iām more likely to use my spare Android, but I wanted to confirm my options. I wonāt jailbreak my iPhone.
I felt good until they told me you have to call from Canada and that itās geofenced too. Umm, no. If theyāre going to put different rules in place for different countries how hard is it to communicate which ones apply where to cast members? If they donāt know how are we supposed to?
Its daft. Hope to you have better luck via other meansā¦
So I thought Iād update as I purchased my Multi and single passes (mostly) successfully last night. I had my cracked old android set up and ready to go, but in the end putting on my old faithful VPN and changing my registered address is MDE to USA did the job. Purchases went through fine and have been able to modify since. Now I just need to figure out drops and snag Tianaās for my first day (sold out obv!)
Great news. Thanks for the update. And good luck for Tiana!
fwiw I confirmed that the very easiest way worked for me, too (well, at least to checkout - Iām not actually going 'till Oct it was with an AP). I probably didnāt even need the VPN. I disabled it, rebooted and tried again leaving it disabled and it was still ok.
I didnāt use a VPN when I tried it.
Iām super happy to hear that the simple solution works! Going in 49 days, so 42 left until LL bookings.
But also find it ridiculous that something so simple makes it possible.
Meaning it should also be super easy for them to just allow us to use it regardless of our locationā¦
If we know about the āloopholeā then of course they do as wellā¦
There was a mention of someone using VPN with this workaround so I just tried it both ways.
Also fwiw this messed up Disney+ for me on several devices. After I unwound it, I got it working again on my phone fairly quickly, but not the iPad. I did get it back after messing around with it for a while but it was a bit of a pain.
Thatās weird. Oh my D+ is in DHās name so itās a different email, thats probably why mine is ok.
It could have been random Disney glitching but when it broke right after trying and then worked immediately after switching it back on my phone, pretty good guess it was related.
Everything is on my ID. DH is a luddite.
My DH works in IT so heās definitely my tech guy. But Iām the Disney adult.
Thatās us too! Although he has D+ in his name, anything Disney parks or DVC is my domain.
