Let’s plan a trip to Epic Universe!

I’ve been doing my homework. I watched the Super Mario movie — which was pretty good and now I know who Bowser is (though not Yoshi). And I just watched the 1931 Frankenstein — which was pretty terrible, but mercifully short. But I’m glad I’ve seen it: now I know why Darkmoor has a burning windmill. I felt bad for the monster. I plan on watching the 1931 Dracula next.

I’ve watched all these old ones in prep for various Halloween horror nights and by today’s standards they are very rough. You have to look at it as an early film making lesson. You can make it thru em!

Bride of Frankenstein is much better than Frankenstein.

They were all hard for me to watch (I watched Nosfartu once as well for other reasons which was even harder, the bats on strings. :woman_facepalming: but for the time I’m sure it was amazing)

Where did you find this screen with the rides and waits displayed like this? Thanks!

It’s done by our very own @joelbruick

Today was The Invisible Man (1933). I enjoyed this much more than Frankenstein (though they have near identical plots). It is unintentionally funny a lot of the time. Great special effects, though. Hope I actually see him in Dark Universe.

I see what you did there.

OK this is amazing! Thank you

I did see him walking around in Darkmoor.

And circling back to one of your previous posts- yes the carousel and stardust racers are open an hour later than everything else. I definitely recommend saving one of your express passes for a post 9 pm ride then you should be able to pop right back in line for the other side with minimal wait. Green was my favorite. It’s an excellent rollercoaster

Is XP still valid after 9pm?

It seems to be a little buggy today (not recognizing the closed rides) but has been working perfectly since I’ve been monitoring it. So maybe it will fix itself.

I read somewhere (can’t remember where or whether it was a reliable source) that the max G forces are significantly higher on one side. Did you feel a difference?

Kinda crazy how low the Darkmoor waits are. I thought everyone was raving about what a good ride Monsters Unchained is. I know it has a high capacity, but still . . .

BatM isn’t too bad. Surprising to me that Mario Kart is actually a higher wait right now.

Sure is! The ride is technically still open. I did it both nights without issue

I don’t know about max g’s but there were definitely points where I was thinking it was giving the velocicoaster a run for its money

Just watched Dracula (1931). Nothing like I imagined. The Invisible Man remains my favourite.

They’re all quite camp. And the stereotypical treatment of the British and of gender roles is quite funny.

I can’t speak to the g’s necessarily, but one side had a twist on the way down that made it outshine the other in my family’s opinion. Couldn’t tell you what color, but it was the entrance to the right after the scanners.

ETA - I just looked at some pictures, it’s the green one.

ETA again - and now I’ve looked at more commentary and pictures and I’m confused. Just ride them both

Just finished our first day at Epic. Our two hot takes: most overrated experience given the wait time: minecart madness. Most underrated experience (at least I haven’t seen it discussed much): the fountain show at park close. Nintendo and Dragon lands were visually amazing.

How did you view the fountain show? Not knowing anything about it, I was like, “meh” but then I saw the view from Bar Helios in a YouTube video and was impressed.
