Great interview @len

I think it is sad(but true) that Len said that Disney is really only targeting the top 20% of income earners to the parks. I don’t consider myself(family) one of those, but we have managed 9 trips(usually 4 to 5 days) over the last 15 years. Thanks to advice of those reading this and plans on this site, or it wouldn’t be worth the price. (Some say it still isn’t) But there is nothing like being in the Disney World bubble for our family. Have a magical day everyone!

Many of us who use the tools on Touringplans do so to save time and money. Disney is targeting the audience that wants to save time by throwing money at the problem. I think it was very funny when the interviewer asked Len how the $400 per person per day LLPP would effect his business, and he quickly responded with “my product is only $25!”

I don’t watch or listen to his mainstream interviews with a lot of hope of learning something new (I listen to his Disney Dish podcast for that), but he is still entertaining even though he has to answer the same questions over and over!

Agreed, I don’t watch them either, but this one was here and throwing money at a problem certainly has been proven not to solve the problem.

Thank you all for watching! I really enjoyed the experience. Everyone at Bloomberg was really nice.

I really wanted to talk about DCL but didn’t get the chance. Rats.

What would you have said?

Yes. Do tell what you would have said about DCL.
Please.

LOL! And that’s per year.

DCL’s ships are sailing out with above 90% occupancy. That’s an incredibly high number for the cruise industry. And Florida’s ports are doing well - Port Canaveral and Miami both just set passenger records.

I’ve got some photos and video from the Treasure, and it looks amazing. It looks like the Imagineers got a lot of feedback on where theming could’ve been improved on the Wish.

ETA: And I had graphs. WHO DOESN’T LOVE A GRAPH!!?!?!

Only heathens. Good graphs are godly.

Maybe next time, @len.

I’m still working on finishing your Michael Shelley podcast interview. Bit of a busy week for you!

Why are they so successful? Is it just the Disney component and “If you build them, they will come”? Because I don’t think their cruise product is that amazing. Their Disney touch is exceptional. But their food is not better than other lines, and there isn’t much to do other than shows.

Wait.

There are rats on DCL and they wouldn’t let you talk about it?!?!

I couldn’t watch last night because it had to be quiet.

You did a great job.
And you’ve convinced me that UOR is the way to go.

J/K

My family is no where near the top 20% of earners/spenders, but we have had many wonderful trips due to the things I’ve learned first through Unofficial Guide, and then via the forums. Thank you for helping the little guys!

You can even get your photo with the rats! Er, mice?

Really? It would have traumatised me! Those interviewers are super-intimidating and clearly know their stuff. You were so calm!

I was interviewed on a national radio station once. I have never been more nervous about anything. I would not do it again.

Not so sure that was the case here. The one interviewer to ask Len if LLPP would solve the problem of waiting in long lines to Len clearly didn’t know the business model and target audience for Disney and TouringPlans were different.

It’s a quality product, almost every cost is paid for up-front, you don’t have to plan much, and kids absolutely love it.

Thank you!

I used to be freaked out talking in public. The thing that helped the most was a couple years of park-time teaching at my alma mater, North Carolina A&T.

Standing up in front of a class for a couple of hours per week does wonders that way.
