Is it possible to rope drop every day?

I would think a RD after a resort day off could work.

Early later later rest early later later rest

Probably, but my family is not a rest day kind of family. 1/2 day maybe.

Oh we love our resort time. We work very hard to build it into our trips!

Yeah, some people like that, but my family gets bored. We can only do 3-4 days at the beach before they get bored. They love to swim, but a couple of hours is usually enough. It works for us. It’s why I don’t find the deluxes worth it for us. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, it’s possible. But I’d schedule at least one mid trip break for “sleeping in” until 7, even if that’s going to a park with later opening or making that your Disney Springs day or a later breakfast. The kids will be happy to get up, but the two of you might like the break.

I’m not sure that would be closer. Most of WS is cordoned off before 11. They may let you through, but if they don’t, you would have to go down past Canada and then across to Mexico and then Norway. The walk from the regular entrance to Norway isn’t too bad.

We ended up RD everyday but we didn’t do any EMH… not on purpose just didn’t work with my plans… so being in MK by 8:30 was easy for our young family… but we also didn’t stay out late… prob back by 8. So there schedules stayed similar. I would just try to be flexible and let them wake up naturally as much as possible… maybe not on the AK day. Just a thought!

With six kids and scores of WDW days we’ve never missed a rope drop. It’s totally doable.

I would recommend asking your EMH timing question in its own thread, because I’m pretty sure you don’t need to arrive that early, but I can’t speak from experience.
I had trouble splitting our MK stuff into two days as well. I ended up choosing a few attractions that I wanted to see the first night in WDW and then went from there. I wanted to meet Mickey, but only when arriving at the park, because it’s so close to the entrance. I chose our RD attractions and then filled in everything else. Hope that helps!

We were exhausted by about day three. We need to sleep in and rest. There’s no way my kids 10 and 15 could do multiple early EMH days.

I had planned 7 days of rope drop and we ended up all doing 5 days and 2 of us doing 6. The one day that nobody did rd, my wife wasn’t feeling well. I think if everybody is on the same page you’ll be fine. It will be a tired page, but you’ll still be fine. :grinning: I would say, if you have any flexibility with your plans, you could switch around days and avoid emh days. That way, you’ll still get the benefits of rd with a little later start time. But if that doesn’t work, I still think you’ll be okay. As far as nights, I agree with others here. You may decide to stay in a night or two and that will help things out the next morning tremendously. I didn’t plan for that per se, but it did happen a couple of times and worked well. You’ll have a great time and get a ton done!

We didn’t have a problem rope dropping every day last trip. We went for Spring Break, so it was extra busy, and parks opened super early. However, we put priority on the morning, rather then the evenings. So we were typically back at our rooms close to 6 - 7 pm, had dinner and went to bed. If you are planning on staying for fireworks each night, you probably wont have much luck every morning. My kids (3 & 6) really needed their full 10 hours of sleep each night. It is a lot of exercise for the kids. I was happy to skip fireworks, to have well rested excited kids each morning.

Very good point ajw1151. Magic Kingdom Fireworks are the only ones I truly care about my kiddos seeing. We have the Fireworks dessert party one night so I will aim to be home early all other evenings. Thanks for the advice!

I planned early mornings the last 4 days of our trip. At the end of the first of these 4 days DD7 was exhausted from everything up to that point, couldn’t fall asleep and ended up awake until after the MVMCP fireworks finished as we could see the higher ones in our room. I was panicked about trying to get her up early after going to bed so late and what kind of a day I would have with an exhausted kid. So I woke up at 5 am the next morning and swapped our days so that she could sleep in that day and the last day and only do 1 EMH. So in the future I won’t plan more than one early morning in a row.

I think 5 days of rope drop will be fine, but only if you keep to their regular bedtime. We actually found that a mid-day break didn’t work for us. I couldn’t get anyone to nap on schedule and it eats up a lot of time going back and forth. What’s worked well for us is going for rope drop and then ending the day with dinner. We’ve sometimes left the parks ~3:30 to have a swim before dinner at the hotel.

Depends on the family.

My family (with DD10 and DS6) did rope drop to close 7 straight days. No breaks.

Yes, it’s possible.
