Is GotG Scary for Young Chikdren?

I have a friend asking if GotG is “scary”. Thoughts?

I really think that’s impossible to say because it’s going to depend a lot on the individual children.

If they are used to riding roller coasters, they don’t mind rides in the dark, that I can’t imagine that guardians would be scary.

If they’ve never been on anything faster than Peter Pan, then it very well might.

I do not know if I would recommend it as a first roller coaster. But if the kids are looking for their first roller coaster, start them at magic Kingdom on barnstormer and seven dwarfs mine train and Big thunder mountain.

However if the kids are adventurous, toss them on guardians and see what happens.

He has been on Big Thunder (too small for Everest) and loved Dinosaur- so I think he is ok?

Isn’t the height limit for Guardians the same as Everest?

To be honest I wouldn’t think it was “scary”, just intense. Although since I had my eyes shut from the backwards launch until the end I may have missed the scary bits. :joy:

My DD5 went 2 weeks ago and didn’t love it. However, she hasn’t ridden many roller coasters and Slinky and 7DMT felt like her max this trip. DS7 was and continues to be obsessed.

Given they liked Dinosaur and BTMR, I’d say they’ll be fine.

Height limit is actually less than Everest. (42")

Probably fine.

Thanks, I always doubt myself.

Always hard to predict. But if he has been on BTMR and loved Dinosaur, I would say there’s a good chance he’ll enjoy GotG. My 6 and 8-year-olds love roller coasters but don’t enjoy scary story lines, and they were totally fine. They found it intense and grabbed our hands tightly during the ride. When I asked them if they wanted to go again right afterwards, they said they were not sure, but by that evening they had both declared it to be within their top three and wanted to go back. It’s dark and there’s a big villain, but it goes by so fast that you barely have time to get scared!

Final report from my friend : “Guardians. Best. Ride. Ever!!!”

The younger son said, “ it was cool but I don’t need to do it again.”

The oldest wants to do it again- now.

My DS7 rode it several times. The first time he was scared and nervous because he didnt know what to expect. He was unsure if he liked it after riding. He did ride a second time and now it is his favorite ride. He told me that he was so nervous the first time he didnt give himself a chance to have fun. He doesnt necessarily love SM but will ride it, he loves SDD and EE if that gives you some comparison.
