Initial plan feedback

Do your best or worst… looking for thoughts on initial high level plan. Staying 10 days at AKL in early April from uk. 4th visit (2nd to AKL) Me DH DD19 and DS16. Initial plan below. We know we like to RD and visit parks in eve with break in middle. Will do some LLs but would like to try and limit due to cost - any recommendations? Have added current CL predictions on the right. We like 1 TS per day. Still need to think re any QS

Any thoughts or ideas welcome

Also Do these CLs look overly optimistic? Characterlocator and wdwprep indicate it could be much worse

I don’t know why the 7th would have those high CLs? In general, the days after Easter are lower than the days leading up to Easter, so I think the CLs make since. Of course, TP could make adjustments.

Not all crowd calendars are measuring the same things. TP is only focused on wait times.

Probably not a recommendation but it’s what we do - since about 2019 when there were still fast passes. Which we had stopped using.

We rope drop, take a midday break and do another park in the evening. Our early meal might be a late in the morning character breakfast, or QS (Flametree has been a favorite). Our late meal might be as late as possible table service - Coral Reef or even a character supper (Tusker House).

In the 6 trips since reopening we have managed not to buy LLs at all. If the wait is more than we’re prepared to do we skip the ride. Early in our week in the World we’ll figure on catching that ride later. If waits continue to be long, we’ll catch it next time.

But we’ve ridden everything we like bunches of times. And we’ve started doing more mini golf, etc. Tho I can’t get my sister to do the foot golf at Oak Trail. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s the memories, right

Adding: as far as crowd levels, when I’m figuring which parks for each day, I start with the lowest crowd level morning for HS and pencil that in. Same for each of the other parks. Hopefully they are different days. Then same with lowest evening CL for HS. And pencil that in. Hoping they’re not the same day, as we like to visit each park multiple times.

After that I don’t look at crowd levels. I rely on rope drop and things like single rider to keep our waits down.

Unless I can recruit a teen to man the app

Thanks. I was confused with the 7th too - seems strange

Thanks. Sounds like you do similar to us. How to you get the different CLs for mornings and evenings. I’ve only ever seen them for the day as a whole

Oh

Well :grimacing:

That’s the recent sticking part since the crowd level reporting changed at Touring Plans. I had forgotten that we don’t have the nice hourly boxes for each day and park.

This last trip - October - I just used the dates of the special events - Halloween party, etc. And the general idea that visitors tend to arrive on certain days more than others and tend to visit certain parks on their first day.

Thanks

I went looking for crowd level info and found the above.

The old hourly crowd charts were awesome fun for trip guidelines  tho in recent years I’ve been subconsciously noticing that my best crowd control device is to head for lunch by 11:15 and then head to our resort. Especially if we’re lunching in a park. Mobile ordering has helped some for actually getting food easier. By eleven thirty for certain the walkways are annoyingly congested which is almost worse than long lines at attractions. Well, maybe it is worse. I’m short and slow and easily distracted :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Since our 1994 visit we’ve been interested in non park activities while at WDW. I think we’re relying on them even more nowadays, especially with all the Epcot festivals clogging the walkways, to continue to feel as tho we’re in “the bubble”.

Case in point, our October trip we did an art class in Jiko (it hadn’t yet opened for food service) at Animal Kingdom Lodge. My first time tho my sister does these frequently. That lesson was painting a small round pumpkin orange with cheetah spots next to a larger oblong off white pumpkin with zebra stripes. We were shown other options, so my little orange pumpkin lost his spots but gained Mickey ears while the larger pumpkin got the spots (predator), but doesn’t lean as ominously over the little Mickey pumpkin as I’d hoped. It was my first painting :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It was enough fun we did another class the next day at another resort.

There’s an April thread in La Cava if you want to join - we will be talking about Flower and Garden there (among other things) as soon as we get more info!

We are also staying at AKL, a little later in the month. Are you considering any of the dining in the resort? I love Jiko (even just for a light meal, as long as it includes the wild boar tenderloin), and I am really curious about Victoria Lounge.

Riviera might be a QS option as well when going between Epcot and DHS.

I am not sure about the crowd levels but would probably wait to see if they are adjusted?

Thank you. Hadn’t thought about riviera

Not sure about dining at AKL, as the kids have so many other favourites. Controversially they didn’t like Boma last time. I am still yet to try the bread service at Sanaa though so must squeeze that in

I’ll look at the Cava chat - thanks

I think this is going to be our plan too. Glad to hear it works. And thanks for the link
