Our trip to WDW is set for May 21-28 and I plan on purchasing G+ and ILLs for each park day.
Question for ILL only. If you log in at 7am (we are staying onsite) are you able to select your return time for ILLs? I understand for G+ selections you just get back the next available time, but I thought I saw somewhere for ILL you can select your return time. Why this matters for us is we will be park hopping to Epcot for dinner one night and I would like to secure an ILL for Guardians first thing in the morning for a return time around 6 pm before our ADR. The alternative is a just keep watching the app until 6pm return times show up?
Yes, you can select your time slot for ILLs (subject to remaining available time slots). At 7:00 am, I would expect most evening slots to be available (no guarantees).
We did this for an ILL (not Guaradians, but the concept is the same).
Great - thanks for the response
All times show up for the entire day and evening at 7am. Just click “see more times” (or something like that) and pick what works for you!
I am going to assume your ADR is 7pm or later?
Keep in mind that the queue for Guardians can be long. I’d book the ILL at least an hour before my dinner reservation. Depending on where your ADR is, I might book it for 90 minutes before to give you time to walk to the ADR.
This is kind of where I was going with my assumption that the ADR is 7pm or later. The ILL line is way shorter than the VQ line though and dumps you pretty much straight into the first preshow. I think 60 mins is probably enough for that use. VQ definitely consider expanding to between 60 - 90 mins
My ADR is for 7:30 at Via Napoli. My plan was to get an ILL for Guardians at 6pm and try to stack a Soaring G+ reservation around the same time to try to hit both attractions before our dinner. We will be coming into the front of Epcot (Future World entrance) via the Monorail from BLT/Contemporary.
Is that too ambitious to hit both attractions before a 7:30 dinner? Our AM park is Animal Kingdom and my touring plan has us leaving around 3pm so we could have a couple hours down time at the resort before heading out to Epcot.
If you have a 6PM GOTG and a LL for Soarin you’ll probably be okay, if you arrive right at 6 for your GOTG. LL for Soarin still sometimes has to wait a bit. And the attractions are a PITA to get to, one from the other, anymore (thank you construction walls!). Plus then the long walk all the way back to Italy which is smack in the middle of WS (and I don’t think the Friendship Boats would be running by then).
Which resort? Transport from AK and then out to EP might leave you with, at best, a single hour of downtime.
Yup ILLs at WDW only you can pick your time. This is not true on the west coast but nor is it true there you can book anything at 7am (unless the park opens at 7am and you’re in it.)
I one time did something similar and I had to very very fast walk to the American Adventure from Soarin. It can take 20-30 minutes to get back there and Soarin always has something of a wait as does GotG even with LLs. Expect a 30 minute wait for both to be safe plus the 5 minute ride so that leaves you with 20 minutes to high tail it. You can do it but you’re gonna feel a bit stressed and have to walk fast.
*Also, remember there is a 15 minute grace period on ADRs so they will hold the reservation for you till 7:45pm. My experience has also been they tend to always seat you even if you’re later than that but you might have to wait a bit.
*And one time in the other park on the other coast, I got stuck on Indiana Jones for 45 minutes and was 15 minutes late to a tour…so that can always happen but just explain and they are usually accommodating if something like that happens.
I don’t believe that GOTG ILL$ ever has that kind of a wait (except if the ride goes down maybe). VQ absolutely though
We waited something like 20-30 minutes but to be fair we rode it when it was brand stinking new so maybe that’s died down?
*And I’m including the pre-show in that wait time.
Ha this is the difference in our assessment LOL
I’m not including preshow as wait time
If preshow=wait time then yes, up to 30 mins could be quite reasonable before hitting the actual ride
Yup! I know for TP you don’t count that but there is more line after that so to me, it’s a nice way to distract you while you still wait. LOL
You’re not wrong! LOL
We are staying at Bay Lake Tower. I plan on using Uber to get from AK back to the resort which will take around 30 minutes - 3:30pm or so. My plan was to leave BLT at 5:30pm via the resort monorail to TTC and switch to the Epcot monorail, figuring I would get to the front of Epcot at 6 to 6:15pm - unrealistic?
That timing is probably quite realistic.
That’s my sense as well. We waited 10-15 mins til 1st preshow in GotG $ILL during Xmas week.
Yes, but after that with the preshow and additional line area that’s another 10-15 minutes before your actually on the ride. So the whole thing I’d plan for 35 minutes. I should have stated it that way up front! LOL
BTW this is similar to what I experience at USO. I always plan for about 45 minutes per attraction for big attractions. I timed it once in USO and sure the wait was listed as “5-10 minutes” for Mummy for example but from entering the locker line to getting my stuff out of the locker was 45 minutes. So at Disney, since there are no lockers I always plan for about 30 minutes per big attraction based on that experience. I don’t really listen to what TP tells me when I make my plans. I use them more of a checklist and in the parks a what to do next.
*And I mean I plan for 30 minutes for LL rides. I will listen to TP for things I’m not riding in LL since the posted wait time does mean more to me there!
