I don’t know if I did Disney math right or wrong

So my plan has been to go to Disney on August 4 - August 7
8/4 - Blizzard Beach and DS. Then hotel.
8/5 is one day tickets at Epcot
8/6 is to be mini golf, followed by after hours at Hollywood Studios.

Our hotel at All-Star music is about $500. One day tickets for three of us to Epcot is about $500 and the After Hours party for three of us is about $500. It dawned on me that buying two single event tickets per person was actually more expensive than buying multi day passes. Sure enough for $500 more I can actually go four nights and have three full park days.

And yet, I decided not to.
If I had three full park day tickets, I would then be trying to get there for RD, use every single minute of the day effectively, stay till close and end up kind of exhausted in August heat. I realize that I sort of liked the plan of doing things at a slower pace. I think my daughters will love doing it that way again as well, like our MNSSHP trio last year.

Did I fail at Disney math?!

Not if it’s right for you!

I will say that this was NOT our experience when we attended DHS after hours! We were constantly racing against the clock.

I would think that 3 days would give you more options to be relaxed but if you know that isn’t your personality then that’s ok too!

I was thinking the overall trip would be less racing around. Like during the day we can play golf and lie by the pool before the party.

The problem is three days of back to back RD to close is 100% my personality and doing a splurge like After Hours is a novelty.

It just occurred to me that since I just “saved $500” I could maybe buy LL for my Epcot day.

I think this involves math…

Now THAT’S Disney math!

The one temptation is the Starlight Parade at MK…

and actually - if I do the After Hours Party with limited time, will I get to see Villain’s show?

You’re doing a fine job of enabling yourself :joy:

We love After Hours, and I would totally do this. I prefer a HS AH vs 1 day at HS, although we would miss seeing Indy. It’s easy to knock out all the rides, we get empty Galaxy’s Edge pictures, and we eat a good meal at a hotel prior to AH entrance starting at 7. Get an ice cream or popcorn before you get in line for Slink.

I would also splurge on LL for Epcot, or at least for Guardians.

Not likely. The last Villain’s show is at 7:00pm currently (including through late July - as far as I could check), but you cannot enter for After Hours until 7:00 pm if you don’t have other admission that would let you in that day.

Tho you have just had a marvelously :sparkles: laid back cruise.

An August trip is more lounge by the pool and enjoy the nights.

Rope drop the winter trips

It depends on when they let you in for After Hours. I attended HS after hours last night and was outside the gate, checked in ready to go with a small crowd of people at 6:20 or so. I thought they would let us about 10-15 minutes early. They let us through at 6:35! My DD19 and I took off to try for Villians but the 7pm show was reaching capacity as we approached the line. We were told we could get in line but might not get a seat. We decided to bail and not wait as they started flat out refusing entry to people behind us. I am not sure the 7pm show will remain as crowded throughout the summer. Yesterday was only day 2 of opening so you may have better luck.

oooooh

I just told @melcort10 in another thread this trip feels like when you bite into a deli sandwich and the meet starts sliding out.

In passing, I ran Plan B by my DD’s, separately. Marie over text (she is in Ireland right now) and Tab in person. Marie’s response was parties are cooler because they are rarer, but she’d be sad not to see Villain’s. And she would love to see the new parade, and anything I decide will make her “ecstatic.”
Tab’s response was, gasp - “We could go to Magic Kingdom, too!?!” She thinks it would be better to go to all three parks and not the special event.

So I priced it out yesterday to go Mon - Fri 4 nights with 3 park days. So for $500 more we get three traditional park days. Didn’t pull the trigger.

Then, I was at the grocery store, mentally going through the motions. And the light bulb goes off. If I’m not going to the After Hours party, I’m not locked into those days.
And if I wait and go 8/10-8/14 I can do 4n w/3 park days for $194 more than Plan A.
But no party and golf. Instead, three back to back park days.

I get BB either way.

Now it’s not Disney math. In INDECISIVENESS.

Were you intending to do real golf or mini? I would contend that you could definitely still do mini-golf!

Mini-golf. We still have days left from our Very Old Tickets.
I think we could get up on the 14th and do it before we drove home. When would you do it?
Marie loves mini-golf and we did Fantasia and almost died in the heat last year. I want to show her Summerland/Winterland.

AND - I think my last (self-imposed) obstacle just fell off.

One of the small reasons I liked Plan A was by staying in Music this time, Marie could say she’d visited all three All Stars (she’s my Disney kid).
Plan B was going to be Sports because it was enough cheaper to make a difference (like could pay for a few QS).
I just looked on Priceline, which has had SO few offers any other time I have looked for trips this year, but for whatever reason Music was available my dates and cheaper than what they were offering Sports. So I can have Music from Priceline for $13.99 more total than I could have had Sports from WDW.

And now I have so many stupid reservations I need to be careful what I keep and what I cancel.
Which may not be Disney math, but it is definitely some kind of Liner syndrome.

I’m right there with you. I think it’s still Disney mathing, though. You have a bit of time to iron it out.

Hmm well originally I would have suggested to walk to Fantasia gardens during your Epcot day. But you have a car, right? Could you take a pre-dinner break one day?

I will have a car. But I recently saw a Touring Plans reel on IG that said in every case busses will get to taps before driver no matter what. :woman_shrugging:t2:

I thought we weren’t crazy rope dropping? We generally drive and have never really felt much behind buses.

Thank you for this.
I really prefer cars.

And if we switch gears we will be crazy rope dropping -and closing- for three consecutive days in August. Which is why I’m holding on to both plans til Marie gets home and we can talk this thru. Tab just wants to “take cute pictures & eat.” She said that about 20 mins ago.
Her vote carries much less weight.
