Do my girls need Magic Band + ?
I haven’t been on the the Wish but have done other DCL ships and a ton of research before my cruises. For your dining the Pirate Night will replace whatever the main show/dinner is for that restaurant for that night. You will repeat whatever restaurant you have for private night to have the regular dinner/show the other night. On a 4 night cruise, on pirate night the menu is the same across the whole ship no matter what dining room you are in and it is the pirate night dinner.
Thank you for confirming.
I’m looking forward to the experiences in each venue. ![]()
You can also get a card which gives you a free drink after a certain number of purchases. I think it’s five.
Hope you have a great time.
No. We forgot ours so we just used the lanyards. Which you need your room key anyway for other things so I’d just stick with lanyards for the key.
The game wasn’t working yet though cuz we went the first summer. Can someone speak if you need mb+ to play the interactive game. I wouldn’t think it would be required?
Yup! They offer them. But you can ask if they don’t. And put it in your lanyard so you always have it.
If you want to play the interactive games, YES! If the games aren’t a big deal, then no, they don’t need a band at all and can use the Key to the World Card for everything. And the band can be any MB+, doesn’t have to be the DCL specific ones that are called something slightly different but are MB+'s.
Soooo you would think that there would be some workaround or that at least the Oceaneer Club staff or Guest Services would know that only the MB+'s worked, but they didn’t when we went on the Wish. It took us until the end of Day 2 to get all of our MB+'s linked up and working as they should and by then there wasn’t really open house time left for the first leg of the cruise for DS12 to use the games and the times before that when we’d asked Oceaneer Club staff if only the MB+'s worked, they were very much “oh we don’t know, it’s new technology” and just shrugged it off.
We’ve used Wifi on all the ships we’ve been in and we’ve been pleasantly surprised that it pretty much mostly works. We do pay for the middle tier though and we’ve only ever done Caribbean cruises going to Cozumel, Nassau & Castaway Cay so it’s not anything super remote to be without a decent satellite signal. We do mainly use it later in the evenings from the stateroom. I think once on a sea day we maybe had a hard time for a hot minute, but otherwise, it worked quite well.
Wow! That’s so undisneylike.
Thank you.
I will buy them bands. I do like to save money but that seems like something they will really enjoy.
Thank you for WiFi info. There is no way I can go without WiFi. I need to talk to kids at home.
Agreed
So the Oceaneer staff were repeatedly very much shrug everything off. Their morale was just rock-bottom and they generally had an air of I hate being here. We guessed it had a lot to diwth them being 6 weeks into taking the brunt of the last minute decisions with how the ages were grouped. You could tell something was off.
When we did finally get to guest services to fix the MB+, every interaction with the Oceaneer staff had been just so undisneylike that we did bring it up and mentioned that we were so frustrated because we had been a) disappointed at the change in ages since we booked the specific ship for the kids club stuff for our oldest, but b) were convinced to keep & not cancel our cruise(s) because we had been fed the lines that he would still have Open House times to do the club & that wasn’t quite working out how we’d been communicated it would go.
Guest Services was super Disneylike and very much made it all better, as they can do, but I really just wish we could’ve skipped that part and just had at very least knowledgeable and/or sympathetic Oceaneer club staff. But I definitely didn’t blame them per se. And we did make sure the Guest Services gentleman helping us knew that we understood that decision had not been an easy one for anyone & it wasn’t anyone on the ship’s fault.
So yea, anyway…hopefully the technology for the MB+'s has been around longer now that they are more knowledagble, and hopefully the time of getting yelled at everyday of days because of the changes to the ages has past & they’re all in a much happier spot able to have some energy to give Disney magic.
My coffee drinkers recommend getting coffee from room service! They bring a carafe of it and it’s apparently really good coffee, better than what you can get from the drink dispensers on the pool deck. Plus it’s free!
Excellent idea. John will love that.
I’m about lattes later but that’s an excellent idea!!
Deck 5 - Enchanted Sword Cafe & Deck 4 Wishing Star Cafe, both just off the atrium balcony on the aft side and open at 6:30 or 7am will have lattes!
I just went back and looked at the folio I downloaded and 2 lattes were 9.50 and then an auto-gratuity (18%) of 1.71. And then yes as mentioned get the frequent card so your 6th one is free.
You can also get them at the Marceline Cafe which a cafe at the front of the Marceline Market (buffet) & the Cove Cafe in the adults only area on deck 13, aft. I never made it to Cove Cafe but we did find ourselves in Marceline Cafe eery time we switched sailings and they gave a free specialty coffee to back to back cruisers starting as soon as they got back on the ship. And we were at both Wishing Star and/or Enchanted Sword once, sometimes twice a day. We love lattes/espresso’s as treats and the DCL signature Salted Carmel Coconut Latte that we get pretty much daily on a cruise.
ETA: I meant to put in a word about the prices of Inside Out specialty treats too. I don’t know the breakdown, but 5 treats (DH wasn’t feeling very much like sugar so he skipped it) were $29.50 and it was a mix of gelato or confectionary treats. So to give you a rough idea of what some prices might be.
Thank you.
All of that falls in line to what I’d hoped they would be!
$5-6 for a latte is what I’d pay here. And that’s about what treats at Dollywood cost. I expect we will do those once.
I need to look at navigators tomorrow or Tuesday. My sign-up day is Wednesday. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to look for. Princess gathering and Nassau excursion is all I can think of right now.
No the princess gathering is 30 days prior.
So confusing.
My personal take on the order of bookings (this is specific to the Wish/Caribbean itineraries):
Since you’re not doing the picnic or BBB makeovers, then as long as the excursion that you want isn’t a dolphin related one, your 75 day booking should be fairly low stress tomorrow.
The big one will be Royal Gathering 30 days out. But you can liner that one!
You may have already found this one, but in case you didn’t, this is probably very similar to the cruise you’ll be going on:
Personal Navigators: Disney Wish 4-Night Bahamian Halloween on the High Seas Cruise from Port Canaveral - October 2, 2023 • The Disney Cruise Line Blog
DD loved the Princess Delight drink. Looks like some there’s several halloween themed things. And your girls with probably love watching the diaper dash. There was also a family game show on our sailing that was really fun to watch - I’ll have to look at my old phone and see whether I made note of what it was called.
I don’t love buffets and I am DELIGHTED to see the MDR (Arendelle) was open for embarkation
We skipped the photos going on to the ship last cruise and went right into the main dining room. Because we had an early PAT, we were one of the first families in the restaurant and it made our embarkation so much more relaxing. DD and I had worn swim shorts and sun shirts that were swimsuit material but t-shirt like enough we felt ok in the MDR wearing them, so when we left there we went right to the aquaduck. DH didn’t want to ride so he had a seat with the carry on bags and we rode twice. 5 minute wait the first time, about 20 minutes the second time as more people got on the ship/caught on that it was a good time to ride. Such a great start to the cruise.
And our family was the rare birds that LOVED the Marvel show/dinner
Yay, I’m glad to hear someone who did like it. We’re really looking forward to it on the Treasure.
Princess Delight drink.
Yum
