I’m about to make the 4th change (5th booking) to our hotel reservation for our upcoming Spring Break trip.
First we were at Dolphin, then Shades of Green, then Boardwalk, then Yacht Club, and now I’m going to switch us to Beach Club (same benefits to us as Yacht Club, but will be slightly cheaper).
I changed our resort last time so many timeS, I lost count.
Think I went - CBR, POR, Yacht Club, Beach club, OKW, AKL, back to Beach Club, only to rent DVC points for OKW and abandon my reservation through Disney entirely. Changed weeks twice, added and removed the dining plan and park hopper as well.
I am indecisive. You should see the research / pros and cons notebook (not even a list - an actual notebook) I have for our next stay
I usually make at least 2 different reservations and just cancel one. Orur upcoming trip, I changed from POFQ to a CBR pirate room, then a CBR standard room, and then to AKL. Added a day at the beginning and we’ll be at Pop.
Change all the time…I feel bad for my travel agent but she tells me she’s amused by me. I make a decision, find a better deal, overthink my new decision, come up with a new reason why it’s ok to book Deluxe when I told myself that I would stay at a moderate this time…you can tell when work is really bad because my second guessing on vacation gets worse.
The only changes we have ever made to a hotel reservation is a change in room type (eg standard to preferred) if it was required for a deal.
Never change ADRs either. Once we set our park days we stay pretty locked in. The most I’ve done is adjust fastpasses if new times/experiences became available.
This upcoming trip - first it was Grand Floridian, then Bay Lake Tower, then Beach Club deluxe room, then Dolphin, then Beach Club villas, and back to Dolphin (well right now I have Beach Club Villas AND Dolphin and will have to choose one soon!). I also have changed ADRs a zillion times since my 180 day mark. Soooo yea if you’re crazy, I’m right there with ya!
I’m right there with you!! Our trip started as Wednesday to Friday and after multiple changes is now Saturday to Friday! Changed the hotel multiple times and now have 3 different reservations at the same place because I kept finding good deals on Priceline! This is our longest trip and I’m crazy excited!!!
My upcoming trip has been a resort reservation bonanza - I think at one point I had 10 different hotel reservations for 6 nights. So many changes. I decided I prefer booking these types of trips myself rather than through my TA.
I’m still on the hunt for the best resort mix / price point combo.
I change it until I get the resort I want at the military discount rate (or better, but so far nothing else offered at my times has been better). Last trip I changed 3 times. The first time I got my #4 choice, hence keeping on changing. I would definitely prefer to book once and not change. If you don’t get what you want you should keep calling b/c people change their plans all the time and cancel.
I went through several options during my planning phase but once I actually booked my hotel, I only changed it once-ish - I had my DVC request (which I originally booked AKL but the villa I requested wasn’t available, so I changed to BC), and I had a backup reservation at Fort Wildnerness Cabins, which I cancelled when the DVC came through. I also booked multiple off-site hotels for my arrival night pre-DCL, but those are easy to change.
You’d be crazy not to, since they are always rolling out different deals and promotions and inventory changes. I check every once in awhile, and if a better price at the same or different resort pops up, I change it. I’ve changed every reservation I’ve had in the last 2 years at least once!
Disney takes a lot of advanced planning. I usually make my first reservation when I have reasonably certain dates, then change it at least once more when discounts come out. I rarely do this with other destinations.
