@ryan1 I’d love to push it that far, but I can’t justify taking DS out of school for an entire week. Two days is about all I’m comfortable with. When he was in 3rd grade we took him out for a whole week and it was fine, but not going to be a great idea (for my particular kid) in 8th grade. If DN doesn’t go back until later, MLK weekend plus a day on either end is a possibility too.
MLK weekend will be crazy busy too. A few years ago we were there the week leading up to MLK and there was a noticeable difference when the weekend hit. This year we were there Jan 2-5, as others have said Jan 3 in HS was a special kind of crazy which had a lot to do with ROTR being new and down much of the day. But Saturday the 4th in MK wasn’t too bad. As @ryan1 said it will get better that Sunday-Tuesday so maybe do your favorite/most important parks those days. With a good plan in place it will work out fine!
