We have a Christmas themed trip planned for dec 7-14. Doing sea world, universal, and MVMCP. Was debating adding a day for Hollywood studios for Star Wars land. Wondering what the crowds have been like? Also when does the second star war ride open and will that cause crazy crowds? I was thinking to go December 8th. It’s a good chunk of change to add the day so want it to be worth it. Will be staying at universal hotel so will only have 30 day fast pass booking TIA.
The crowds were lower than many expected, but the land was only part done. The rest opens on Dec. 5th. No one knows what to expect. There are a lot of different guesses, but no one knows. Things have been busier this past week, but there are fall breaks going on for schools that started early. So far Disney has not even announced if they will do any extra hours when the rest of SWGE opens. The Sunday after it opens might be crazy. Or the Sunday after it opens might be a normal Sunday.

Yes, it’s a total mystery to all. Can you keep the day available on your itinerary and decide a little later? There are no FP for any of the Star Wars rides (currently), the only thrill rides you can FP are Rock & Roller and Tower of Terror. So unless they change the FP system, if you’re mostly interested in SW:GE then you can decide very last minute without affecting your park experience.
