Hokey Pokey with MK/Tron and HS

This isn’t new. You always had to have the park ressie the ride is in to even be allowed into the queue to try for a BG.

But maybe I’m reading this info incorrectly. :woman_shrugging:

I did the same as @Jeff_AZ and moved my park reservations/plans around so that I only have MK on the 2 days that I’m hoping we can get a Tron VQ. I had hoped to spend some time in the morning at HS then hop to MK, but gave up on that when I read that part about having to have a reservation at MK. Better safe than sorry I think. But, we are not frequent visitors, our trip in August will be our second ever WDW trip, and likely our last for the foreseeable future, so I am planning conservatively in terms of snagging a Tron VQ.

That’s not true, you had to have a park reservation for Epcot to get a GOTG BG when it opened. I thought that was still true but may have changed. I was there opening day and haven really paid attention since.

Not for the 7am drop. You had to have an Epcot reservation to try for Guardians VQ. You could buy an ILL without having a park reservation.

I thought for a VQ you always have to have the park ressie for the 7am and it was the ILL that was different, as you can usually buy one for anywhere.

Yes I think this is what was different:

However, they may have just meant a park reservation for any park (legal CYA verbiage).

My philosophy on loopholes is that I have lines I won’t cross, but if there’s a gray area and I use the loophole, I don’t go bragging about it or spread the word too far, because then the loophole will go away. e.g., if there is a shorter line on the far right side of the taps, I’m not going to tell everyone to come join it. The more people who know, the less likely it is to be shorter the next time.

I don’t even consider the Hokey Pokey a loophole. There’s no restriction on changing your park reservation except availability (and that’s at my own risk).

Agreed - I’ve done it and while it was risky, I don’t feel bad about it. It didn’t impede anyone else’s ability to get a reservation that day.

If you do it @ParkRanger , you’ll have to let us know if it works out.

You know I will!

That’s how I take it too.
Plenty of people already hop to MK in the late afternoon and evenings because it’s open later. Can you imagine the influx of people coming at the same time just to ride Tron with their VQ. Also, it may help with the day crowds in HS. Hoping anyway.

Yeaaaa, like what I think is happening right now with double tapping :joy: :face_with_monocle: I expect that to be closing soon.

I do wonder how long the 1pm drop will be sold out before the 2pm hop. During the week I don’t worry about hopping to Epcot and picking up the VQ…because it is usually available - but today both VQs are already out before 2pm. I imagine Tron will be that way for awhile.

Decisions must be made

Not for the 1 o’clock. If you go to Epcot, add 205 and there’s still one p.m. drops available you can still join the VQ for guardians EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE A PARK RESERVATION FOR A DIFFERENT PARK, WHICH IS WHERE YOU WOULD’VE HOPPED FROM

Please disregard the caps. I don’t know why that happened.

Right. I guess I wasn’t being clear at all. To get the 7 AM drop you have always had to have an Epcot reservation but you could get the 1 PM reservation even if you went somewhere else and hop to Epcot at 2 PM provided that when you entered at 2 PM the virtual queue was still available from the 1 PM drop. Apparently I was completely unclear in this point that I was making.

It is a loophole though. Because you’re only using the park reservation to get a virtual queue, which is meant for people who are going to the park that day with that park reservation not by hopping

Oh, but in this case, it absolutely will. Magic Kingdom is sold out for most of the first week of April if not all by now, and I know people who had park reservations for Magic Kingdom, that somehow disappeared, and they can’t get back. So anybody that’s holding a magic kingdom park reservation without the intent of making that the first park that day is absolutely impeding on someone else’s ability to get a Park Reservation, and therefore ride Tron by virtual queue for that day

Right but I thought we were talking about the 7am VQ.

The highlighted part is for 7am.
