Did your daughter like it as much as you? I don’t think my son and daughter in law (both mid 30s) really got the “campy”.
I’m way excited for Cyborgia. I’m mostly a sci-fi girl and I’m blown away by the effects but I don’t love horror anymore. I did as a teen.
I’m struggling a little - I keep finding different answers online. I’m looking at logistics with the rest of the family and day of switch from Disney - Universal is not my area of expertise. We want to hang with them for a bit - and my little one wants to see the Death Eaters before they head out.
Is it true that we can pick up our wristbands anytime that day?
Has anyone done really early houses? How long are they? I looked at thrill data but I don’t know how accurate. The big one may want to peel off and do that to get more doubles.
If we’re already in the park is it true we can check in for the RIP tour at Cafe LaBamba (or somewhere else) instead of at the front?
Is it true there is no food until mid-tour instead of beforehand?
How long before our actual tour do we need to arrive?
Anything else anyone thinks we should know? We did last year for the first time so still kindof newbies.
Do you have Joel’s times guide?
I watched this to get an idea of house times.
You should get an email from Universal one week before your RIP tour.
Check in has been moved to the Media Center. Reports are that food is now scheduled about 45 minutes into the tour (or about after four houses). Timing for food can vary. There are reports/feedback on this on Reddit.
The last couple of times I have seen the death eaters have been immediately after the dragon breathes fire. Last October the death eaters marched down the road and onto stage after the fire. Last weekend, they appeared on stage after the fire and then came into the crowd.
I do now! Thanks - I only used BG1 to check times last trip and it was still so helpful.
She did, but we both enjoy campy things if they are done well. It ends up 5 or 6 on our lists.
What is at the bottom of your list?
100% Stranger things. Invasion falls to the end, but we both really liked it. Our top five were (the order changes…)
Hellraiser
Madlands
Cyborgia
Ozzy
Blood N Gutz
So we have four of the same five!
You can pick up the wrist bands early, which let you get into the houses. However you have to go to the VIP check in at the gate to get your credentials (lanyard). That doesn’t open until 5:00. They will also give you a wristband if you don’t have one already. Then you check on for your tour (I recommend checking in 15 mins early but you could be 20) at the media center. We ate after doing five house, so it was pretty late, like 9:30 for an 8:00 tour.
I tracked the times on the app from home for the early houses. Thrill data was right on from what I saw. We walked on to Jack and Oddfellow at 5:20 (they had a shortened queue and Cyborgia was no more than a 10 min wait at 5:50.
I really liked this thrill data graph, I able to get to the interactive version: https://www.instagram.com/p/DdCcOJeuXPU/?psln=MmFwZDhtamIxag==
This is also definitely true:

We thought this year’s Stranger Things just didn’t live up to past years. I think that may have been our issue with HR Blood N Gutz. None of us thought it lived up to the past houses in that line. Honestly, the pumpkins made me a little sad since it just reminded me of one of my all time favorite houses (Wicked Growth) and the house brought me back to the truly campy Slaughter Sinema.
I also have to add- for the first time ever I had someone walk through a house filming the whole house behind me. He put his phone directly in scare actors faces, filmed TMs as he walked through the crowd, and filmed all the way out the house.
This is the last piece that I couldn’t find (clearly or consistently) and was doing my head in. Thank you so much!! I think we have our plan.
So rude! I don’t understand people who actively detract from others’ experience.
I spoke to someone a few days before my trip (I was having ticketing issues) and they confirmed this.
This was our first house like this, so that may be the difference! We would have loved Wicked Growth! I was thrilled that the OG Lil boo was at Cabana Bay.
This is obnoxious. I can’t belive the TMs in the house didn’t stop them. We had two people on our tour group who were terrible house walkers - they started and stopped in a way that threw off the rhythm. We tried to be in front of them or way behind them because being right behind them kind of messed things up a bit.
What an A-hole… ![]()
I had a very similar experience at FanFest last May. This guy had an entire professional camera set-up. You could tell he knew where/when effects would happen as he moved his camera in perfect synch.
It’s so annoying that people are so consumed with posting everything they do online without any awareness of the people around them in real life!
We had the best time. Our favourite houses are definitely in different orders except for Stranger Things mostly at the bottom. We both loved Jack & Oddfellow the most but our order after that changed. Ozzy, Cybergoria & Blood N Gutz were also in our communal top 5.
We did Stranger Things, Hellraiser, Cybergoria, Evil Dead Burn and Jack & Oddfellow x2 before the tour. We had the stabby girl both times but I don’t actually think DD really took it in.
I wanted to watch Evil Dead Burn (saw the originals a million years ago) and re-watch Hellraiser (the last time was probably a VHS rental) but you know… work, kids… I think I would have enjoyed both more. I still liked them.
I’m glad you had a great time! Also glad you got to do so many twice.
Did you find you enjoy it a lot more after dark? For me it is so much so, I am rethinking how I would want to do HHN with express but without the RIP tour (maybe over two nights instead of early entry).
My daughter in law will only do houses at night. It is one of the reasons we do the two nights of express. Her sister and her family came with us this year. They did the 2pm ticket. We have APs but decline sped to join them in the daylight hours. Maybe try the two nights once and then decide?
We have only done a few houses and scarezones during the day in the day over the last two years and feel pretty strongly about it! I think the two nights is the way we would go for sure. Thanks for sharing how you have done it! I used to wonder why people split between two nights, but it makes complete sense to me now.
Absolutely. 2 nights is totally not an option until my family rearranges itself and I’m either ok letting my little one be on her own or DH can (and will) spend more days there. tbh I would do daytime as well even if we did 2 nights. We were there for 12 hrs the night we went and would totally have done another 12 back to back.
ETA - who needs a half marathon?
