I’m looking forward to our first holiday-time trip to DLR in mid to late November. I have always wanted to do the tour that included Walt’s apartment. But, whichever tour that was does not seem to be available during our trip. They are offering are the Home for the Holidays Tour and the 70th Anniversary Guided Tour. Both look to be about the same length and cost. Had anyone done either of these in the past, and what did you think? Were they worthwhile? It looks like the 70th anniversary tour normally includes a viewing area for Paint the Night but that won’t be happening then. Any guesses what might be included instead? Thanks for any info you have!
Is it the Christmas parade? My guess is it’s the other parade
I thought about doing this but it’s really not necessary to see the parade, it’s pretty easy to get a spot for it, I have caught it a couple of times just walking thru in the moment with lots of good viewing from the sidewalk.
Walt’s Apartment tour is the only one I’d do versus the ones they have right now. It’s really neat. I didn’t like the last Holiday (Christmas) tour I did, it used to be fantastic as it included Jingle Cruise, HM Holiday, IASW and a spot for the parade from chairs across from iasw where you can watch the light up show while you wait for the parade. Last time I did it, it was just iasw and watching the parade sitting on the curb from in front of Jolly Holiday Bakery
Yeah this is a weak offering compared to what you used to get
“You’ll also enjoy reserved viewing for A Christmas Fantasy Parade, delicious holiday treats, Lightning Lane access for Haunted Mansion Holiday and an exclusive collectible keepsake.”
They are charging more and you are getting less. It’s sad.
I too have done the Holiday tour and was not impressed. It used to be great as mentioned above.
To be honest, it turned me off from all Disney tours and I have never wanted to try another. But I am a very frequent visitor to both coasts, so that might have something to do with it too. On the Holiday tour it felt like we just walked around and looked at decor, the same decor you can see walking around without paying.
I don’t know anyone who has done the 70th tour.
Yup that’s what it is. And now it doesn’t even include a single ride. I bet they just give you the LL for HM which you could spend less and just buy LLMP. This is a stupid money grab. They used to actually cut you in the line completely. You’ll get like a piece of fudge from the candy shop in DCA, they’ll point at the decorations and tell you a little something about them and then you’ll get to squeeze in on a curb (which you can do on your own in less than 2 hours of your time or $120) and give you a dessert* and hot cocoa from jolly holiday.
*Not of your choosing. Like everyone gets the same, so if you don’t like pumpkin cheesecake or whatever it is.
That’s really disappointing that the holiday tour isn’t what it used to be. I kind of suspected something is off given that both tours have wide-open availability for all our dates one month out. I’m curious if the 70th tour is any better but unless I hear something positive about it we will probably just skip them. Hopefully the apartment tour is available for another trip.
I was hoping the 70th Christmas tour would be the best yet but haven’t really seen any info for it. The year before Karen had such a terrible tour, my daughter and I had the best Christmas time tour. Four front of the line rides (Jingle Cruise!) , seats across from Small World for the parade. Hot chocolate in travel mugs, gingerbread man cookies, a Christmas tour pin. Then they changed up a bunch of stuff the following year and we haven’t done any again. The Garden tour was good and the train one too. Kinda a one and done for us
YES! This one was amazing. We all walked away (7 of us) going best tour! They didn’t give use Ginerbread cookies last time. They gave us some sickeningly sweet cheesecake like thing that I didn’t love. It really needs to be gingerbread man or candy cane (cuz that’s what they are known for and has a long line for the candy canes)
This one looks better to me but I still didn’t do it. The train and boat don’t need a skip the line and you can so easily see the parade from somewhere else or the later one with no need to deal with this crowded area of main street curb.:

To make a tour worth it, the sum of its parts need to be the cost of time and money and neither of these in my opinion are. Popcorn, and one LL is not worth $120 nor is the spot they give you for the parade. When it was four skip the lines, a classic disney treat, chairs for the parade with small world viewing light show while waiting or seeing Walt’s Apartment which you can do no other way, then yes it’s worth it.
We did get the seats across from Small World for the parade, the hot chocolate and cookies, and the pin. But no rides. That part had changed recently so we thought we were getting the full experience when we booked it. Rose left halfway through and got her money refunded as she was so disappointed.
