Gotg?

Am I able to book Epcot, grab a VQ for GOTG, and then switch park reservations to a different park; saving the GOTG for after park hopping begins?

It has been done successfully in the past. But if the park you have a ressie in is critical to plans, proceed with caution.

Thanks, @OBNurseNH

We have a long trip planned for summer. I’m wondering about over-booking Epcot in order to try this. We would still have other days straight up in the other parks. If there is experience with success, maybe I’ll try it a few times.

If all else fails, my kids like Epcot, and we could always hop somewhere for the evening.

@Jeff_AZ calls it the Hokey Pokey.

I believe the advice is to confirm that there is APR availability before you do it.

Yes this is possible but make sure there is available APR’s beforehand. Also with Tron opening in April there might not be a need by summer. It’s possible GOTG will go to standard stand by when Tron opens.

Yep and I did it last month! As has been said I call it the Hokey Pokey.

Here’s the post where I describe the steps I did:

This is interesting because I want to do something similar but with Tron.

I assume I’ll need APRs for MK to get a BG for Tron, and I feel like I should just get APRs for MK every day. But I certainly don’t want to go to MK every day.

Can you change your APR day of? Presumably yes as that’s what this thread is about. If I fail to get a BG, I’d want to switch to another park.

So you can buy an ILL for a park you don’t have an ADR for?

Yes except they changed the rule for Tron - for that ILL only the Parks Blog post said you need an MK APR.

Yes, you can change your APR anytime. I changed ours 3 times one day because we changed plans, then I remembered I wanted to do @Jeff_AZ ’s hokey pokey (was going to rephrase, but nah) so had to go back and forth.

I think what is going to be more difficult for doing this with Tron is that MK is usually the first park to fill up APR’s. EP is usually the last park to fill APR’s. I think this is only happening on busy weekend or holidays these days though. CM’s are blocked out of just MK all through March and April.

Good point. If you’re going to do this, you will need to make MK your standing APR for the days you want a BG or VQ for Tron. Then switch only after you have secured what you need. (Which is a little risky.)

After purchasing that ILL, can you change your APR?

 Is this unusual in terms of blockouts? Is it usually something like around Christmas?

I have not tried it personally, but my understanding is yes. Once you have secured a BG or LL, you can switch your APR without losing that BG or LL.

(I have tried with BG and regular LL, just not ILL. I can’t imagine why it would not work, but there’s always that 1% chance so I’m hedging.)

I suppose the only thing that really makes it questionable in this case is that they have specifically stated the park ressie for MK piece

Although there has been an exchange of currency so it would have to have an automated refund process and come on this is Disney IT we’re talking about sooooo…

Yes for the whole month to be blocked. But we can usually only see up to 2 months so it might change.

MK is the most often blocked park BTW.

Well shit

this means Maddie is going to need a regular person ticket when Juju visits her, doesn’t it?

For MK probably. It could change, February was all blocked too but there are some open days now.
