Just found out there are no DTW to Sanford flights, that’s out, I did look at Jacksonville and Daytona Beach since those are on our route, but she might as well fly to GSP if we did any of those. The real draw to MCO is the flight cost being around $100 vs $400
Do the town cars do the thing where they hold up a sign for you, or do you text them and meet them at the curb? You might not know, but I thought I’d ask! I just know I’ll get asked
I honestly do not remember. I think they texted. I’d ask Tony when you call. They are very easy to work with. Let him know your concerns are. If I remember correctly, he and his family are from NY. It’s a family business.
Have you ever picked someone up from there? I’m trying to find someone who has who can give me a review of navigating that, but I am not really comfortable with the idea of navigating the 9th busiest airport in the country with all those ride share services zooming about.
I have picked up my kids once from MCO, it was in 2022 though so not recent. I don’t remember it being a big deal though. They texted where they were and I pulled up and got them and their luggage.
Being on the phone the whole time is always my suggestion to those afraid of Lyft. No one will do anything bad if you’re on the phone and risk is low anyway (you can request female driver too if that helps). It really is the most convenient option.
The entrance to CLT from the road becomes gridlock. I have never had that happen at MCO.
With that said, I’ve been to MCO many many more times that CLT.
Are you worried about you navigating or your mom? The pickup area is literally a few feet from baggage claim. Your mom would pick up her bag and then walk to the closest door. They have numbers to assist way finding.
Worried about me as driver navigating that. I just imagine a zoo of ride shares, unless they have a different pickup location? Idk. But I appreciate hearing from @QwertySC and @Wahoohokie that it’s not as bad as I might be making up in my head
I know everyone has a different comfort level but “zoo” is a little subjective. It feels normal airport pickup chaos to me. Like it’s certainly not incredibly organized but not any worse than any other airport. Look for the number and pull up as close as you can get.
You could also park and come into the airport. I just looked and it’s free to park for 20 minutes and $2 for 21-30 minutes.
