I am allergic to shellfish, mushrooms, tree nuts, and avocados and so the menu is not that great for me personally. Also, I don’t drink! I made a reservation regardless and I won’t feel bad if I have just a water or soda (I’ll tip well regardless)
Yikes. Poor thing. Are you allergic to latex as well?
Luckily no, but I am allergic to adhesive, which is also fun. ![]()
Same! And…I am allergic to isopropyl alcohol!!!
Anyhow, I voted no simply because it seems like you aren’t doing much more than taking a peek inside. I would forego the reservation for those who would take better advantage of it. Not that it is wrong to keep it…just seems like a FOMO move, when there are other things you could do that probably would serve your time better.
Yikes. I’m sorry. I would have a tough time if I were allergic to adhesive. I’m always afraid of developing that allergy. (I have to use adhesives 24/7).
I’m not allergic to latex, but my daughter is, and that’s a miserable thing. Clothes, shoes, and things are not labeled accordingly, so some things are such a gamble.
I remember that.
It’s a fair point. She’d rather do Behind the Seeds, for example. Here I think it’s maybe not so much FOMO, but just interest in seeing the new space for myself. It looks so pretty, and I love a new vantage point. But if we go in, we’ll sit and order, and enjoy, so I don’t think it’s a lost opportunity for someone else. We just won’t be ordering alcohol, and maybe my sister won’t try any of the food we order.
I took my sisters to HBD at Jollywood last December (my treat). I ordered a few things to share at our table, and this particular sister refused to try anything. Not in a rude way, but she made it clear with her demeanor that she would have rather not been there. My family has some passive aggressive tendencies.
I’m hoping that won’t happen this time! I’m definitely leaning toward keeping it, pending discussion with DH this evening.
She’s an adult. If she doesn’t want to go, she can do something else. ![]()
I definitely wouldn’t go if this was likely to be the case. It would affect the whole experience for me.
Hehe I’m stubborn enough that this kind of behavior might make me more likely to go and she could either come and enjoy, come and be miserable, or go somewhere else for an hour.
Same.
Me too ![]()
I’m curious to get an update on the reactions of the sister.
My expectations for drama are like this:

Hoping for your sake it is not that interesting. ![]()
Good for you!
Tell us all about it later!
I realized I neglected to follow up and let you know how it went at GEO-82. In short, we had a lovely time, and there was certainly no drama! As predicted, my sister wouldn’t order anything. Well, she asked for a water, but she wouldn’t order a drink and said she didn’t like any of the food. She didn’t really affect my vibe though. I think she was happy to be there given it’s new and so a bit exclusive–unlike HBD in December where she gave full stink eye while we sat there during Jollywood.
My DH got one of the mocktails off the menu, and I asked for something else mocktail-ish, and I’m not really sure what it was, but it was carbonated with a cherry syrup or something. We both enjoyed our drinks–DH very much so. Also ordered the flatbread, tuna, and the hummus. Each were good. I have the cilantro-tastes-like-soap gene, so I only nibbled at the edge of the hummus. (I wish they would indicate this ingredient on ALL menu items!). They originally seated us in the back corner even though there were seats by the window, so we asked to move, which they accommodated. Overall, it was smaller than I expected, but the decor is lovely. I hope to go back some time before too long. Probably without my sister next time. . . ![]()
May I recommend the Charcuterie board if you go back again! It was so good!
I will try that some time with different companions. I’m the only cheese lover among us!
