This sounds like they way they operate now. #chapeked
Yup.
They honestly need to just steal Universalâs model and admit Universal got something right they didnât. Deluxe hotels get free LL and you can pay for it and it caps out. Or you can just pay for it and the hotel benefits are solely the extra 1/2 hour AM or 2 hours in the PM. I cannot tell you how excited I am at Universal to not have to wake up at 7am to buy ILL+ and book Genie+ attractions even on my sleep in days.
I think this is right. Disney has made it so complicated, stressful, and expensive (and now seems to be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic). Universal Express Pass is expensive, but not complicated or stressful. Disney may need to price an âexpressâ style pass higher than Universal due to demand, but that would be much better than the current system.
New and improved, Genie+ Ultra!
Phenomenal cosmic [money making] powers!
The kicker is, the price of Universal deluxe hotels vs. Disney deluxe hotels.
Right itâs basic capitalism. If youâre willing and able to pay out the wazoo you get to ride what you want when you want with less of a line. Or you can put in the manhours of creating touringplans and researching when to ride what and standing in line a bit more. You can work hard or pay to not work hard. What Disney has done is to make you pay more to work harder. I donât know what kind of economic model that is based on?!?!? Itâs not like my hubbyâs joke about Holiday World in IN where for the price of admission you get free soda and sunscreen all day aka socialism. LOL
Holy cow YES. $400/night is reasonable (and you can find deals and sales) and you get EP unlimited for both days around your nightâŚIf youâre a family of 4 or 5 thatâs an incredible deal. Disney they want like $600/night for the cheaper Deluxeâs for 2 extra hours in 2 parks, 2 days a week! And those two days have to be when youâre planning on being there. You going Thursday - SundayâŚnada!
And get less in the end.
Yeah, I am not gonna lie; I love paying for Express pass at Universal or Flashpass at Six Flags (still a better system than Disneyâs Genie+ and you still have to book one ride at a time). Universalâs is my favorite where I can just do what I want when I want but I did miss not having Fastpass on my recent Disneyland trip. It wasnât so bad without it at WDW though because I either went in non-crowded times or stayed a really long time and spent 2 days per park (4 days in Epcot because itâs my fave). Thatâs another way to spend money and do everything and actually preferred if you can take the time off and the hotel isnât costing you $700/night. So if they just got ride of it; Iâd suggest that over paying for Genie+. You get so much more just doing morning/evening in the park and spending downtime relaxing in the middle of the day than trying to scramble with booking LLâs all day. The stress of BGâs is also killer. I donât like the Virtual Line system at Universal either. I had so much difficulty getting Hagridâs Virtual Lines when the park was crowded.
Yes, but that is likely because (for now) there is greater demand for Disneyâs Deluxe resorts compared to Universalâs Deluxe resorts. I say âfor nowâ because all this Disney Genie nonsense may push more people to Universal.
Yeah, I think thatâs true but even Universalâs Deluxeâs have been selling out since last Oct. I wasnât able to get one a month out Sept 2020. I snatched the last one a month out for my Jan trip (I mean I got the last room except for a giant suite in RPR).
OMG it just occurred to me: this is Disneyâs plan!!
Give them a product SO AWFUL they will be relieved to pay a crap ton more after just a short time!!
We have fallen right into their trap.
I was thinking, âIâm glad I paid for it already. So, I am immune from price increasesâ Then I read that and I thought, âWell, if they rebrand it, they might say, âYou can apply what you already spent towards the G+ Ultraââ
Iâm sooooooo unhappy! This is messing with all my plans. We arrive on the 19th when these changes go into effect. I had already budgeted for all of the ILL$$ to avoid crowds and allow for hopping. We are not going to be rope dropping this trip due to several late nights.
Now I guess we will skip FEA (could have had our $$, Bob), ride Space only at Deluxe hours (another missed opportunity for our $$, Bobbo), maybe wait for Everest (yep, more $$ not spent), and probably miss MMRR because G+ at HS is already a cluster (would have paid twice for this one on two different days).
I donât drink at Disney. But I might start. But Iâm not giving them my money for booze. Gonna get me a flask and guzzle it in front of the castle while making obscene gestures and questioning Bobâs parentage.
100% agree.
If you need some suggestions of where to do this hit me up!
They donât check to see what is in your to-go coffee cup. And thatâs usually bigger than a flask.
