Funigans Trip Report - Easter 2019 Band Trip

I love that you and your friend coordinated shirts, and they’re especially great in the BoG gargoyle shot.

Hooray for the rain holding off so the kids could march and for Ellen from St. Louis.

Thanks all.
I have a few more days to report on yet, I’ve been slacking off getting them completely ready.

Saturday 4/20 - Animal Kingdom day

Broken record…

Up early for coffee walk. Despite being a value resort, Pop still has some beauty if you catch it right.

VIP seating on the morning bus, sorry Ella you didn’t make the cut.

Grandma is ready for battle today with her chinstrap.

At the tapstiles at 8:15 for 8:00 EMH, slackers today.
No worries - who’s always got the sweet FPs already setup? You know who.

Navi River is down, and the line outside the queue is short. The drum show is going on right there, so why not queue up anyway.

It opens soon and we ride. It breaks down again, and we are near the end sitting directly in front of the Navi animatronic.

Got to see the whole long song play out, which was cool.

Use our FPs for FOP next, and it gets rave reviews from the newbies with us.

We head to Africa, have a nice safari ride, walk the trails, ride Dinosaur, ride Everest.

Around 2:30, I have to go to the park entrance to pickup our band daughter. The band group is leaving today, so now she’ll be with us for the rest of our stay.

I grab a refreshment for the walk to the park entrance….

The Moms and other daughters stay back in Africa to see Lion King. Band daughter hears that and wants to go join them. She heads off that way.

The Dads have other plans.

Nomad Lounge here we come!!!

Get a nice table on the porch and relax with some cold beers.

Nothing like a nice comfortable place, in a beautiful setting, with nice refreshments. Kinda makes you want to relax to the fullest.

Naps?? Naps all around!

Before you get all “how dare you” offended, we didn’t really lay down and nap.

Back story = Kevin likes naps and is often caught taking one when we get together.

We thought this would be funny to send to our wives.
And it was, regardless of what anyone else thinks, we are funny.

Our waitress was nice enough to play along and take the photo for us. It was hard to keep a straight face while pretend-napping.

The napping gimmick gets a life of it’s own after this.
Wait until tomorrow on our DATW day at Epcot!

Now, who’s hungry?
Everyone - we go have a good meal at Satu’li, love it there.

We roam around AK some more, and then we are all about done here.
The kids want to hop over to the Studios, we say go for it. They head out.

The NC grown ups wish to see the playoff hockey game tonight.

Us PA grown ups wanted to take them to Geyser Point (since we loved it there last time down).
2 birds dead, 1 stone

Evening at Geyser Point is fun.

I did some research to make sure the game would be on. Little worried that we wouldn’t get a good table with a good TV view.

Got a sweet spot and had them put the game on.

We are winners, oh and the 'Canes win too.

Get back home to Pop around midnight. The girls ended up at MK and are still there, but on their way out.

Virtual parent check-in…

Us Dads pull short straws and have to wait to meet them at the bus stop.

Another great day in the books!

Easter Sunday - 4/21 Epcot day (and Kevin’s birthday)
Take an early stroll around Pop again.

Been looking forward to this day for awhile, and we are excited.

Although maybe not as excited as this guy (they are not with us, but I should have invited them along for the day) ……

I Had a custom shirt made for the birthday boy’s big day.
Inside joke that’s been running between us for years.
If easily offended, don’t spell it out.

We get him a birthday pin, so the CM “happy birthday Kevin” greetings start and continues throughout the day.

A couple times during the day, we randomly (and embarrassingly) all burst into singing happy birthday to Kevin while walking around Epcot. Often with strangers joining in.

First up is Spaceship Earth.
I thought it would be funny to select Spanish, thinking I could manage through our options on the screen.

Didn’t think ahead that the entire narration would be in Spanish. Got a bit annoying towards the end.
Fail.

Why is Jenn so angry?

We check out the Seas, the Land, then Frozen.

Glad that we were able to catch the Coco show in Mexico, my younger daughter is a big fan of that movie.

We go inside Mexico. The women shop and ride the boat ride.
I have other plans - La Cava del Tequila!!
Gotta get the birthday boy a margarita (well, and me too).

We get up to the bar.
First thing the female bartender says is “happy birthday Kevin” in her sultry Spanish accent.

Kevin looks at me and says “that’s the best happy birthday so far”

Tequila makes us sleepy?

And our world showcase stroll begins…
We stroll, we sightsee, we eat, we drink.
Does it get any better?
Gonna need some energy, good thing we got a quick nap in!!

The kids head off on their own to explore.

Chinese naps

Big stein right there. We ask how much?
She says One Tousand in her thick german accent.
No, I didn’t spell it wrong - that’s how she said it - Tousand

Terrible train accident, but it doesn’t ruin our day.

Sitting on the steps in Italy, I notice 2 big bald eagles flying around above us.
They’re getting pestered by 2 other small birds, and they all fly out of sight.

Italian naps

We miss the Voices of Liberty, but do catch the American Adventure show.

Sit outside for some BBQ (ok, I’ll have a beer).

American naps

Hidden Mickey in the sushi???

Creepy selfie with Sleeping Beauty?

French naps

Flower and Garden is a pretty site.

We check out the butterfly garden.

We have dinner at La Hacienda de San Angel, and time it right to watch Illuminations from there.

“feliz cumpleanos Kevin”

Bye Goofy!

Bye Epcot!

Tons of fun, tons of memories, great day!!!

Tuesday 4/23 - departure day

Goofy’s car getting a hand wax job.

Final Mickey selfie.

Tragical Express view as we leave.

I’m expecting the post-Disney depression to be worse after this trip. NO future trip planned, our APs expire in June.

No time to fit in another quick trip. Dang daughter has to go and graduate high school and prepare for college. That and other things have us booked up solid for awhile.
