Frontier bag rules

Can someone tell me how strict they are with bag sizes? Website says a backpack is a carryon not a personal item. Is that true and/or enforced? If my daughter has her school backpack as her personal item will they call it a carryon and charge us?

It depends on the size - you’re probably ok. I found this on a travel site:

And this directly from Frontier’s website:

Ah! Thanks. Not sure why I didn’t see that part. I’ll measure DD’s backpack when I get home from work.

I have flown on 6 Frontier flights and we have all (Hubby, kids, and I) taken backpacks on as a personal item every time. One of those trips was just for a weekend and that was the only luggage we had…we put our clothes in there and everything! They have never once been measured and have always fit under the seat. As long as you stick close with the dimensions they give you. But like I said they have never even glanced at what we were carrying as we board.

As far as the rules go, I believe as long as it can be stowed under the seat then it’s good to go!
