Just fyi just because you are already booked for a resort doesn’t mean you can wait and call whenever to add the FD discount. I made that mistake 2 yrs ago and had to change my resort. Each resort only has SO many FD rooms set aside. So as soon as it hits CALL to add.
Is it possible to book through Orbitz, get the 15% room discount, AND get free dining?
No because you can’t book a package through Orbitz and the Free Dining promo requires a package that includes tickets.

I had an email from Mousesavers (I subscribe to their newsletter) that had the free dining dates included in it for fall 2015. They sent it at about 7:15 am this morning. I also have a Disney rewards Visa, but did not see anything come out from them on the free dining, just the Mousesavers.
This offer went right to the general public, not to Disney Visa cardholders first. That might be why you didn’t get an email from them.
