FOP EMH Strategy

I am going to WDW early June and plan to do AK as my first park day. There is an EMH which has the park opening at 8:00 am. I am worried I will not get a FOP FPP since AK will be early in my trip. So, if I do not get a FPP, I plan to rope drop FOP.

What time would you suggest be at AK to be first in line? And would you ride the Disney bus from resort or drive?

Based on what I’ve read of people’s experiences, 90 minutes ahead should work. I’d drive, because if I’m getting up that early, I want to leave when I want to leave, not when the bus comes.
