While checking for discounts for a WDW resort room this summer, I found the FL resident discount to be 36% on a moderate hotel. In contrast, my Fl AP discount was only 29%. Does anyone know why this occurs, how often it occurs and what does it mean if the highest discount percentages are for moderate resorts? Lastly, does anyone know if Magical Vacation Tours gets an even bigger discount this summer (2018)on Deluxe, Moderate or Value resorts.
The rate I got from MVT for mid-July looks to be 31% off of rack rates for Beach Club. Looking at the quote I got on POFQ it looks to be only 18% off of rack, so those Florida discounts for a moderate look like great deals to me.
Note MVT’s rates likely vary depending on when you’re going so the discount in August may be bigger than mid-July. i.e. it may be worth asking MVT directly just to make sure.
Thank you for your input. It looks like MVT is offering a Labor Day Special deal that includes late August. My daughter used MVT at hat time of the year to get a deal at the Poly. It appeared to be 40% off or more. What I don’t understand is why a popular Moderate like POFQ or POR isn’t filling up. I have also heard that the South American tour groups are moving from the Value resorts to the Moderates. Are these high discount rates being offered to the South American travel agencies?
