First Disneyland Trip 😊

Yes to this part. You can find locations using the DLR app. I used the search tool to look for Water Bottle, and it brings up Bottle-Filling Stations. Select it, and you can click on “Show on map” to see where they are.

I would think DLR is like WDW and would have free cups of water at QS places, too.

Yes you can get a free cup of ice water at most QS locations. A few that might be easier than others:

  • Smokejumpers Grill (DCA)
  • Boardwalk Pizza (DCA)
  • Docking Bay 7 (DL)
  • Tomorrowland Terrace (DL)

Probably others. Just go right up to the service window (not the register) and ask for water. If there is a self serve fountain you can just use that as well.

A lot of the rides are indoors and have indoor queues, esp in Disneyland. My tips would be:

  1. Try to avoid being in DCA between 11 and 6 p.m.
  2. Other than Toy Story or the first hour or after dark, only do the DCA rides that have LL, and use it. Only do Racers via Single Rider, and only if the standby time is less than 80.
  3. In Disneyland, visit Toontown early in the day, or after dark. It gets hot out there. The Runaway RR queue is usually very cool, but TT is hot.
  4. The HM queue is in the sun. Go early or late, even with LL.
  5. Use the tram to get back and forth to the parking lot after rope drop. It’s a long, hot walk.

The heat will likely keep many locals home, so you will hopefully have low crowds. Do get LL anyway, and I’d still get it for Rise of Resistance, as that queue can be brutally hot.

You’ll probably find our heat a cakewalk compared to your humid heat, but these tips may still be necessary.

@pottermore just saw this in Mr. Todd’s Disneyland e-news for early October! I’m sorry to miss the mariachi band. (I’ll only be there Oct 4-5.) I don’t know which Elena of Avalor is! :joy:

“Don’t miss Disneyland’s mariachi band. There are a few more opportunities to catch Mariachi Alegría de Disneyland in Rancho Del Zocalo park inside Frontierland. The performances, set for the evenings of Oct. 6, 7, 13 and 14, are part of the resort’s National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations. Also, beginning Oct. 4 and lasting through Oct. 15, guests can meet the character of Elena of Avalor near Royal Hall next to Sleeping Beauty Castle.”

There are several showtimes per day. This is why we need a Liners in the Land thread. :slightly_smiling_face:

Having the BEST time! After radiator headed to guardians then webslinger, monsters and soaring. Had to kill a bit of time for my Carthay lounge reservation so shopped a bit and now relaxing in the AC. Heat honestly isn’t bad if you stay out of the direct sun! :sun: Might be singing a different tune later this afternoon :joy: Thanks for all the tips. Has made for an easy and fun day

Sounds like you’ve knocked it out of the park! All the biggest rides in DCA are done.

Today by myself and Wednesday with my daughter! Figured my feet might appreciate the break between days. :footprints: Did over 8 miles today so I judged right. Not heading back tonight. Had just planned a half day for today.

After lunch I headed to DL with eyes on galaxy edge since I’ve haven’t been to studios since they added that. Wow!!:exploding_head: So impressive. I hit haunted mansion on my way in with LL then both smugglers LL and rise LL. So much fun! Made a loop and thought I’d hit iasw cause it was showing 5 minutes but saw the line in the sun and was a big nope. I was fine as long as I wasn’t in the sun! Hit buzz and sm on my way out. Not a bad first day and I think I have a good feel of the land for Wednesday. It’s been a long time since I had to ask directions in a theme park but did a few times today!

How did things go on Wed for you and your daughter? Did it work out OK to take a break at her apartment? I was in the Parks on Monday night and Tuesday. It was so hot on Tue that I ended up taking a hotel break from 11:30 to 7 p.m. to avoid the heat. Cooler on Wed, but still hot, I see. Did you both survive it?

We had the best day! It was hot but really wasn’t bad to us at all. Guess we are used to it. :joy: We did not go back to her apartment. It is a bit further out than I realized and she doesn’t love driving in CA especially anytime around rush hour. We took a very long lunch and then sat in the lobby at Disney’s Grand for a bit instead. It was a long day but we made it from rope drop to closing out DCA. :two_hearts:

DL is so easy to navigate! Wish it was closer to home as I’d go there a lot if it was. She is falling in love with CA though so maybe more visits to come. Her next contract is in San Diego so not too far!
