Hi. I was hoping to get some feedback from folks who have used FPP when their window started 30 days out as opposed to 60. We are about a week and a half away from our 30 day window. I set everything up on MyDisney so we are ready. I logged in and just took a look around MK FPP availability for 28-30 days from now (10/3/2014), just to get a feel for the system. What i noticed was that SDMT and ElsaAnna were gone on everyday and most other major attractions didn’t have FFP available until very late in the afternoon (early evening actually). Is this really the case? I would love to hear from some people who have used FPP with this starting window. thanks !

A&E and 7dmt are “the hard to get FPP” even at 60 days. These will be pretty hard to snag but people have been able to get them if they keep checking as their trip gets closer. I would imagine people are now booking late am or early afternoon FPP for other attractions so that they can take advantage of the extra FP available after the first 3 have been used. Good luck and persistence is key!

Thanks nlm ! A&E is not a huge deal for us, the kids aren’t really into the meet and greets so we will just skip that i guess. But they are definitely going to want to ride the mine train at least once. I suppose if i cant get FPP’s then the next best thing to do is go there first thing and hit the standby line. We are RD people so hopefully the line wont be more than 20 minutes or so. Or skip the mine train in the morning and keep checking the system while at the park to try and get lucky … that just seems unlikely to me.

Thanks so much. My hope is that we are going the week before Thanksgiving and the crowds are quite light so the only pass we will have a hard time with is 7dmt. I will try and be persistent with it as nlm encouraged above! I will withhold judgement until i actually go through the process in a week and a half from now, but i must say, the 60 day window / 30 day window thing seems to materially hurt those who aren’t (or who simply cant afford) to stay on the property even though the access cost to the parks is the same for everyone.

I hope you get good luck and are able to find a FPP for 7DMT @sally3311. I had originally planned to RD it as well, but in reading other Liners’ experiences, some say that unless you are at the front of the pack, that line, even at RD, increases rapidly and you are waiting just as long as some points later in the day. A long RD wait eats up valuable time in the morning when other rides are also low waits. Just a thought - and if you can get there quick - great. But just in case you are further back in the pack, it may make more sense to hit the other attractions like Peter Pan or Winnie the Pooh while their waits are low, instead of spending the best time to have minimal waits in a long line.

Thanks LB ! I couldn’t agree more about standing in line early in the morning. Even TP has it a 29 minute wait first thing ! We wont do that. We’ll head right to PP and we can tour all of fantasy land easily without using a FP at all…which is what we have done the last 3 years. I figure we can wait in a 30-40 minute line at7dmt at many points throughout the day. The queue is supposed to be neat and even though the FPP thing irks me a little tiny bit, I don’t mind waiting in one long line at MK if i have too.

I booked our Fastpasses at 30 days prior to each day of our vacation (that’s a week of staying up til midnight…) and I got everything we had hoped for, including 7DMT (only one time was available), Soarin, and TSMM (also only one time available at that point). A&E was the hard one but after weeks of checking again and again I finally found a time during the day (when my kids would be awake enough to enjoy it). I did find that there was more availability at midnight than in the morning so I do recommend trying it the second that you can.
Definitely worth checking again and again if you don’t get it when you book (I’d rather not depend on my little kids making it for RD).
I am also not able to book until 30 days, and I’m concerned about TSMM. Anyone know about that one?
Hey @ImSomewhereInThatZone that is what i wanted to hear !!! We were planning on doing it at midnight as well. A number of folks said that being persistent and checking day after day can possibly payoff for the harder stuff…well done ! I am very hopeful 7dmt is the only really hard one (of the things we want to do). Actually the way we do MK the only other ones we really want are Splash M and Thunder M in the early afternoon … I’m pretty hopeful on that front.
For us, we have 3 little ones (6yo twins and a 4 yo) and they are naturally earlier risers … VERY early. So we are there for all the rope drops and that eliminates the problem with Soarin’ and TSMM, we just ride them first thing. I know @JKS you are concerned about TSMM, I would imagine the solution is either RD or later in the afternoon with a FP (hopefully). We’ve done TSMM 2 years in a row now at RD and its a very short wait.
As for the 7dmt … we will just keep trying and hopefully we get something. Otherwise, just keep an eye on the SB queue and check out the scenery while in line! LOL
My kids are early risers, so we should be a RD family (haven’t taken the kids before, so we’ll see if that happens!) and I will definitely ride TSMM at RD. But, I would love to be able to ride 2x with a FPP! =)
I was able to get TSMM at about three weeks out but only in the afternoon. Keep checking for 7DMT. I kept checking and finally found a time about 2 weeks out. We wanted to ride 7DMT twice and rode it at night. If your kids can handle being up late, it is really cool at night too.
I could reserve 60 days but am at 30 now and am still playing around with my FPP to make them work in my touring plans. Consider Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh because of the long waits.Switching to those cut my overall wait times significantly. We will go to 7DMT at rope drop–still says it will be a 27 minute wait, but not if we are the first ones there! We have two partial days at MK. Day one, SM, Enchanted Tales, and Under the Sea (the latter two may not be recommended but they are important to my girls). Day 2, PP, WP and BTMR.
The only midnight fpp I did (at 60 day) was 7ds - didn’t need A&E. Rest no problem early next day. So I’m wondering if can use same method at 30 day. And that was in august, so maybe slower season will work ok for 30 day. We’re doing split stay next trip, first half will have 30 day window.
Staying up past midnight days in a row not a plan that I’d like to do.
That said, TSMM may be another I’d stay to midnight for. Because even at RD, we encountered a 50 min posted wait (we did have fpp- walked on). RDers who arrive way early, get to front of RD line, then sprint get there ahead. We had double stroller so no sprint for us, and didnt want to be at RD 45 mins or whatever it takes, that early. That was mid August, so if off season may not be an issue.
Hey @staza. I would imagine your experience at TSMM must be a crowd level thing. The last two years we have gone there we get there for RD (maybe 20 minutes early), then just walk over there, no sprinting, and we are pushing 1 double stroller and 1 single stroller, park right across from the ride and head right in, 10 minute wait max. The crowd levels according to TP are never higher than a 4 for our trips (I think HS is a 3 for us this year) so I’m sure that is the major difference. Anyway, it doesn’t seem like a morning FPP for TSMM is realistic 30 days out so we will ride it first thing, and try and get an afternoon FPP for it so the little ones can ride it twice … they love that ride !
Thanks for the info @sally3311. That;s good to hear. Had a feeling that was the case. We were there midaug on a supposedly 4 day. But wdw had just about 1 week b4 added the frozen parade, snow sing etc thing. So I think the level turned out to be much higher than originally predicted, felt as if it could have been a 7 or so.
Sometimes disney throws in an extra event like that, and crowd prediction can’t reflect it til after the fact. I probably noticed the crowd level weeks b4 we left, wasn’t checking it closer to trip.
NP @staza. Here is another question that really @len is probably best equipped to answer. We have two choices for days to go to HS this year, Nov 18 or Nov 20. Both are crowd level 4 (So i was one level off on my comment above @staza ). You would think it wouldn’t matter, but, on the 18th HS closes at 8PM while on the 20th it closes very early at 4PM. So, will the very early close be the better day to go because many people will avoid the park that day (because of the closing time), or will in general the same amount of people be there and everyone’s FPP use crammed into a much shorter time frame ?
At 30 days out I could not get FP to E&A or the Mine Train. I checked constantly every day all day. I got 7DMT by getting one FP at a time (at any times during the day), then slowly changing their times to overlap. That took more constant checking. Thank goodness, too, because the lines for 7DMT were atrocious all day (50-70 min) on a Wed when we were there.
Never got a FP for E&A, but happened upon a 10 min wait (!) at 8:30 on a Wed night when everyone else in the park was lining up for good seats for 9pm Wishes show! We even got to see Wishes after meeting the princesses.

Yes, we were at MK on Wed 10/1 & Thurs 10/2. I didn’t pay much attention to wait times for 7DMT in the morning since we had FP, but I know in the afternoon it was 50-70 min waits. Even later that night it was long waits. Big Thunder had no wait and we rode it over and over. We actually liked BT better than 7DMT but you gotta ride it once right? Try rope drop or try the one-FP-at-a-time method that worked for me.
