I just looked it up. I believe the Poly now has 72 1 bedrooms. Grand Floridian has 30.
One other factor worth considering for when you move to 1-beds.
Those at Bay Lake and Kidani have the extra full bathroom. So 1-beds have 2 bathrooms, 2-beds have 3 bathrooms.
The Kidani 1-bedroom was larger than my first apartment. I think that the master bathroom alone is larger than the bedroom that my family of 4 spends most of the summer in.
And the Poly 1-beds have a second bath!
The 2-bed we had at Bay Lake felt like it had more living space than our 3-bed house (excluding attic and outdoor storage).
The size of the master suite is probably as big as our top floor with 3 beds & bathroom.
Then the living room & kitchen is similar to our house area wise, and the second bedroom and bathroom takes care of the other 2 downstairs rooms.
I should really dig out the info sheet on our own house which shows the floor space area, and compare.
Get the DVC Field Guide and read it.
It is an excellent resource for learning everything you need to know about DVC. I bought it a couple of years ago to figure out if DVC made sense and ended up buying a loaded resale Boardwalk contract followed by a direct poly a few months later.
If you love Poly, I would just buy direct because the difference in price right now between direct with incentives ($1K anniversary, $1K Disney Visa, $500 D23 + Magical Beginnings ($20/point rebate)) and resale just isn’t enough given the inability to book new resorts with resale points. One piece of advice about Magical Beginnings- buy a month or two before the start of your desired use year and you’ll get current use year points which you can then sell back to Disney for the rebate.
This is great advice thank you!
Interesting. I was under the impression that there were only 30ish 1 bedrooms at the Poly Tower, while there are a total of 410+ studios between the Poly Tower and original Poly, which might make the 1 beds hard to get due to the ratio of studios to other room types. 72 1 bedrooms changes the math.
Poly 1-bed room breakdown:
Standard view 25
Preferred view 12
Theme park view 35
Thanks!
