Everyone Else Is Doing It... a solo trip report that we all know won't get finished

I never mind!

Nemo done… traded my Soarin for a Figment, in case I can modify it into something else.

I’m almost hoping the “thunderstorm in some areas” still be this area.

It is though! I think all the way up to 6/5 it’s 8pm. They just haven’t updated beyond that yet. I am reassured. It makes no sense at all to revert to 6pm close as summer kicks into high gear.

I’m supposed to be having Les Halles, but I’m not hungry in the slightest. I think I’ll head to HS, and maybe hit the bar at 50s Primetime instead.

It’s just looking too sunny in France!

I’m taking the boat… it’s got a/c

The a/c is struggling.

I haven’t been able to modify my SDD from 6:20, so I guess that will have to do. I grabbed a ToT for 1:40 though, so I’ll go have a drink and then do that, I guess

But they moved the opening time of the following week to 8:00 but didn’t move closing? We’ll see. I need at least 7:00!

At 3:47 hopefully you can modify the SDD.

So @heathernoel and @OBNurseNH and others

one year the grandkids wanted not to do homework at WDW. We planned a week to start the day before school was back in session after Christmas break. The kids got their school work assignments before the break. Completed their assignments during break. Left the books at home. When they got back they were actually ahead because no one was seriously into working that first few days of January.

It was a couple of trips before this January one that the school had me and two grandkids come in to school us on how important it was to the kids’ future that their butts be in the school’s seats. The conference didn’t quite go as the guidance counselor expected.

Eventually, a few years later, the administration folks said youngest grandson wouldn’t be allowed to turn in any makeup work for credit. His teachers simply gave him several weeks worth of assignments which he turned in before he left for a trip.

More trip derailment, @Nikkipoooo . :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Tower of Terror done… 4 hours until SDD, so I’m headed back for a little siesta & time off my feet/knee.

I have a January 2025 trip planned with Maggie over a.long weekend. Her request is to mot miss.any days, except maybe a couple of classes on departure day. Its just to stressful to her.

But that philosophy has changed over time, and os very kid dependent!

Yes. The school’s philosophy flip flopped frequently, sometimes according to the principal. I’m wondering what the heck is the school board doing? And the kids. The one with the most anxiety opted on his own to join us on an early September trip even tho school had been in session only a few weeks and it was his senior year. He just needed to go to Disney, I guess. He decided he’d not have any sick days.

The schools are definitely all over the place. Maggie’s elementary twacher was strict. You got multiple nastygrams for evem one missed day.

Seriously, skipping park food and coming back to the hotel to get out of my sweaty clothes, and have a Lunchables, cheese cubes, and grapes (not pictured) I got from Instacart was exactly what I needed. I’m glad I ignored my second guessing on the groceries.

Talk to me about Instacart.

I’ve only ever used Garden Grocer, and haven’t even done that in quite some time because I more often have a car. But I have a couple of quick trips coming up that are (well except for the actual dinner at V&A) budget trips and I was thinking about getting a grocery order delivered.

How does Instacart work? What was good about your experience? What would you like to see done differently or improved?

We use instacart and it is pretty easy. You just enter your order in the app - you can create it in advance and then finalize it as your trip approaches. A delivery person picks up the items for you and will often message you if they need to get an alternate item if what you ordered is out of stock. They will message you when they arrive at the resort and you can go meet them, or they can drop it off at Bell and have it stored if you’re out and about (or en route to Orlando).

Thanks! Any troubles?

I’d mainly be looking at water and quick, on-the-go breakfast stuff I think

Ours have always gone smoothly, other than occasionally not having the product we wanted, but that is a grocery store problem. I really like the communication aspect. That could be a problem if you’re in the air though, so I recommend ordering for a time when you will be on the ground. It works well if they deliver while you’re there — that way you avoid the $6 fee from Disney for holding groceries at Bell, plus the tip for them picking it up for you.
