For rides with lockers, we ask people to time their wait until the locker. We estimate the wait from that point forward.
Huh. I tried that the first couple of times, but was worried that Iād be screwing up the averages. So instead I just submitted the posted wait times, and hoped yall would be able to tell when I clicked āstep completeā
Okay, but is waiting till evening still a good bet?
Yesterday the TP blog posted a video in which Guy Selga says that, on the day he visited Epic, the park really emptied out in the evening and BatM was down to a 15-minute wait.
But then earlier this week on the TP blog (How Not to Wait 254 Minutes for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry) Christina advises rope drop as the only way to avoid a long BatM wait:
If you do not select Rope Drop Mode, your plan will not send you to Ministry first, and youāll risk not riding unless youāre cool with 3-4 hours in lineā¦
Which is the better strategy for BatM, rope drop or evening?
Iāve heard something similarā¦although, the data from Thrill Data is less than compelling:
The dotted line shows that, apart from like the last 20ish minutes, the wait times are still quite high, on average, even slightly less so toward the evening.
What Iām not sure about is if that is ONLY posted wait times, or are they actually calculating estimated actual wait times?
Interestingly, wait times have crept UP in the past few weeks.
Not being super familiar with Thrill Data, what factors do they collect that would allow for predicting actual wait times beyond what Universal posts?
I wonder if that coincides with closing Stardust, but then the reversion to mean was masked by higher crowds for Veterans Day, etc.
I think they just use posted wait times from UORās feed.
I know that I was there during a pretty low crowd time, but we waited about 15 minutes at 2pm. The ride went down and my husband barely waited 20 minutes (we had to rider swap). I donāt really know what happened but it felt like a freaky timing thing but I wish this was more consistent!
Yeah I wouldnāt count on this!
I do think that the lack of the ability to hop makes the evenings really less crowded at least.
Iām not sure they do!
It seems like TMs are repeatedly telling on-site guests that only āMario and Monsterās Landā are the only things open during EPE.
There was a thread on Uni chat the Epic touring plan is wrong because BATM is not open and their TP tells them to go there first.
Iām 99% sure itās just from UORās feed.
Iām also reasonably sure that all of us are using the feed from the same source.
Itās definitely open - we discovered it during testing. I know UOR doesnāt say it - itās kind of like the Lightning Lane grace period that Disney doesnāt talk about.
Iāve been in semi-regular contact with some folks at UOR who ⦠know about wait times. Theyāre aware of the issues. Iāve offered help if needed.
I have linked this thread and posted that the touring plans reflects it as open based on in park testing.
