Now I have to write a “I love fog & mist on rides!!” e-mail to negate yours!!!
I don’t think I like you anymore.
Maybe this should be a new thread, but it leaps off of Epic Universe, so I am putting it here for now.
Saw this video…I had never seen this channel before, but it was quite insightful! The gist is that Universal is getting permits to expand their development land from about 700 acres to 2000 acres! And then discussion about the implications of that on Disney. Check it out.
Alicia Stella subtweeted about this recently, but I didn’t understand what she was subtweeting. Not sure this changes anything you learned from the video (I haven’t watched it).

Note that Universal always had plans to develop more of the land that was purchased years ago.
Here is a map from years ago showing the future possibilities. More hotels, a CityWalk-like complex, and another park. This old map lines up with the current news.
The 2000 acres doesn’t add up @ryan1 , not sure where that number originally came from. According to this map, the Epic Universe plot designated for Theme Parks & Hotels (and future ones) is 765 acres. The wetlands etc. is around 543 acres. Those total around 1300 acres.
Original Epic Universe including Helios (& including expansion pads not being used at the 2025 opening) at opening appears to be around 150 acres.
Anyone know if this has changed or if there is more land missing from this map?
They talked about a lot of different numbers, so I don’t recall the specifics there…I was more interested in the commentary response to the filing details of the permits than the details themselves.
Ok. Well possible fake news, not sure.
Not fake news at all.
I just rewatched the beginning…they’re spouting about Universal’s building possibilities on two thousand acres. If that’s not fake news, prove it. (I understand they’re just repeating news from a different news site)
Oh, I thought you meant them filing permits could be fake news.
Their video is more about commentary and conjecture at times for sure. I found their thoughts intriguing, but was surprised to find that they have that much land AND filed permits for it just recently.
That’s the thing, they don’t have that much land…unless I’m missing something.
Don’t know. This graphic from the video says they grew by 1300 acres. Since there was about 700 before, that’s 2000 total?
That image is the 700 plus wetlands.
Now if they added these areas for hotels I marked with red x’s, that could be another 200 maybe…
I can only get to the 2000 by adding the Epic U buildable area + wetlands + the current parks (USF/IOA/CW/hotels)…
The whole thing is 1300, it’s not additional
Two sources (at least) say otherwise.
Yes I know. Fake news
The map that Alicia shared on X is 1300 acres…
500+ of which is unusable.
