Epic Universe News & Planning Thread

I’m torn on this one - it does look cute but I despise waiting for M&Gs! We might do it Wednesday morning.

I was thinking of getting a butterbeer crepe here but the food options seemed too exotic for me and my kids’ tastes for a full meal.

I’m not 100% sure we will try to rope drop, but we probably will since the park opens so late, relatively. I’ll be sure to share details.

I’ve heard the warnings but we will definitely have to try it once! I mean, it’s got to be at least as good as Cat in the Hat, right? We love Yoshi so it’s a must do, even if it’s lame.

My actual plan is to ride this just before going back to the hotel to change and go for a swim. I think the customized touring plan is overestimating how fast I’ll get through everything so that is why it ended up before the show in my plan.

Perfect! You can just jump in the pool as is since you’ll already be soaked

Do not besmirch the good name of CitH by associating it with that ride! :shark:

I really enjoy CitH! It’s sweet and a great “traditional” dark ride. I look forward to the popcorn smell it has in one of the scenes every trip!

(Can you tell I’m all caught up at work again??!!?? Plus, my boss went on vacation this week! )

Do you know if there is an accessible option? If not I am adding to my notes to skip due to a knee concern. I could do 3 floors of stairs max.

I think I remember seeing an elevator there. I assume there must be! It’s nowhere as near as many stairs as in Bowser’s castle. It’s just like a single floor’s worth of stairs but that would be where the queue would back up the most since it’s right before loading. (Terrible design.)

My understanding is that everything in Epic has an accessible option, but some are harder to find than others.

We skipped both of these our day in Epic. I offered, but both kids had no interest.

We liked Fyre drill and it was August so I was happy to bo soaked lol. But if you don’t want to be literally dripping wet I would not ride.

I’ve been excited for this ride since announced. After seeing ride videos it doesn’t quite live up to my expectations, but still looks fun. I love that Universal goes out of their way to drench guests on their water attractions!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I believe that they had to “turn town” the intensity of the water hoses from opening day because they were shooting way too far and actually painful to get hit with. But this means you can’t hit some of the cool effects which is a bummer. I hope they can figure a way to recalibrate. There was just one that was like a Viking statue with a bucket and I was in the right/wrong place at exactly the right/wrong time and the bucket literally dumped right on me.

I had heard the pressure was turned down, but didn’t know why. I could completely see how that could be a problem!

It comes across like an idea that sounded great in the planning stage, but didn’t test it against an 8 year old!

My family was sad we didn’t stop there but we couldn’t fit all the food in with just one day. So that is a very good option to throw in.

Your plans look really awesome! That flexibility to pop into Epic is going to be so nice! And you can try all the great food everywhere.

And as it turns out, we’ll be at UOR same time as you! With a 1 day excursion to Epcot one of those days. But I don’t know which park which day yet. We were toying with doing all 3 days of UOR but we couldn’t go to Orlando and not do Epcot a 2nd time in a row, so we ended up deciding on 1 day Epcot & 2 days of UOR with 1 day P2P at IoA/USF + 1 day Epic.

Any reason you picked Monday as your full Epic day? I’m right now trying to figure out what one day to put Epic. Right now, Tuesday I want to do Epcot. But then I can’t decide if we do Epic first on Monday or last on Wednesday (we drive to Ft. Lauderdale Thursday for the cruise). Oh, and the day that my family is doing IoA/USF some of the family is going to Epcot for an extra day there (we have a lot of Epcot fans coming on this trip).

It’s our first time at Epic so I figured we’d want to do ALL THE THINGS and then have flexibility the next two days in case we loved it so much we could spend more time there instead of IoA / USF, though I think we will hit our favorites over there at a minimum (i.e., Harry Potter and Jurassic Park, specifically).

Oh very good reasoning. Epic is best to get 2 nights at it, I think. And IoA/USF is really great too so that flexibility over the 3 days will be awesome. I was so conflicted trying to balance recommending the family do 3 days at UOR (to have that same Epic flexibility AND get some time in IoA/USF) but also knew the SIL (and my whole family) wanted to squeeze in some time at Epcot and we had limited time pre-cruise (well more limited budgets that we were working with).

I agree on CitH. We first went just for some AC and were enchanted.

Yoshi is really horrible. We went to check it off the list. It wasn’t even worth that. If I were walking by and I somehow was walking by the boarding area and I was invited to board immediately, I’d say “No Thank You” It is THAT bad.

Of all the rides at SFOT, WDW(all parks), USF(all parks) and Legoland CA, Yoshi and the double-loop one at SFOT are the only ones I hate that much. And I can understand how other people might like the double-loop SFOT one. If anyone over 10 said they liked Yoshi, I’d mentally file them name in the “Don’t listen to this person” list.

ETA: Maybe if we set the expectations low enough, it might maybe exceed them. You probably won’t fall asleep while riding it since it is short.

Epic is testing facial recognition at each portal. These stands can be removed on dates when access to a specific portal isn’t limited.

The other use of the scanners…they can potentially open up Celestial Park to anyone, mainly for evening dining. And could just charge per attraction…Stardust (UXP).
