Epic Universe News & Planning Thread

That’s exactly what I had pictured in my mind. I really didn’t do much track analysis because I wasn’t waiting hours for a kiddie coaster. Glad we finally tried it. DH loved it!

I’m wondering if there is anyone here who would be willing to answer some questions about UOR for first time visitors who have express passes and 4 park days.

What is the best recommendation for getting to Epic in the morning in terms of both timing and travel mode? Cost isn’t a concern so ride share is fine if it’s best.

What are people recommending for a RD plan these days?

Are the pay lockers for rides pay per ride or do you pay once and then get to use the larger locker at each ride with some sort of access verification?

From the bar atop helios, and with a well timed reservation, is it definitely possible to see the nightime show? Is there a place to stand and watch it like HEA at CG?

Can power up bands be purchased outside of parks?

Can wands be purchased outside of the parks?

Trip is mostly focused on all things HP, Nintendo, Berk, checking out Darkmoor a bit, with a few other attractions on the list that will be easy to experience. No intense coasters due to concern around a medical diagnosis and no Hogwart’s Express. No worries about motion sickness, too many steps, or getting tired.

Good to see you around again!

Are you going to be at a Universal hotel? If so I would use the bus, unless you’re within walking distance (Helios or Stella Nova).

I don’t know the answers to your other questions definitively so I will leave it to others.

I have never had to use the paid lockers at attractions. Are you planning on bringing a large backpack? We have always been able to fit my fannypack, DIL’s crossbody, 3 water bottles and 3 phones in a free locker. You can also each get a free locker if needed.

I have seen wands in the Universal Store at CityWalk but there were many more options in the parks.

Is it efficient? Is there a bus schedule somewhere?

Yes.

I believe all the hotels advertise that the busses start running to Epic 1 hour before EPA. But most reports show the first bus leaving hotels by 7:45. So, people have been lining up between 7:00 and 7:30 for a 9:00 EPA opening time.

Note that the free ride lockers at Epic are bigger than those at USF and IOA. They can hold a regular size bag.

This was one of the upgrades of the new park.

This would be just Hiccup’s and Monsters I believe. Sounds like you won’t ride Stardust.

I would honestly consider a smaller sling bag for Universal but I hope others can answer your questions about the larger lockers.

We prefer to carry things that will not fit in a small bag. Like umbrellas. And extra socks. A larger water bottle. Backup epinephrine. Backup chargers. Sometimes we have an extra layer of clothing. We’re anxious humans and having the bag we prefer is part of how we manage anxiety.

Any chance a paid licker (front of the park) for large bag and smaller bag to hold bottles, chargers, maybe ponchos, can be carried and go in attraction lockers?

If not, I hope someone can help with details about the paid attraction lockers, and their size/cost.

Universal’s page has the locker dimensions for all lockers at all the Orlando parks. Searching online, it looks like the paid lockers cost from $15 for the smaller and $20 for the larger ones.

"Universal Epic Universe

Family-size lockers measuring 11” x 17.75” x 17.7” are available to rent near the park entrance.
Large Lockers measuring 11” x 11.75” x 17.7” are available to rent near the park entrance."

"At Universal Epic Universe, standard-sized lockers (11.8 in x 11 in x 13 in) for small loose articles are free while you ride. These lockers are available in the queues of the following attractions:

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders
Monster’s Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment
Stardust Racers"

I like the info on Universal Informer. Here is their locker info:

With regards to Bar Helios, the view is not great in my opinion. The bar seating is not adjacent to the windows. Some of the restaurant tables are at the window, but I don’t know if that can be guaranteed. There is a fairly small lounge area that doesn’t take reservations that has good views, but people were camped out there fairly early the night we went. We ended up finishing our drinks and going back down to the park for the fountain show.

We made reservations for arrival night which is a no park day, so I guess we will at least be able to check it out and then also see from the parks. Did you like Bar Heilos in general?

Yes it is lovely, and some interesting cocktails

Based on that official website link, it appears there are no paid single use attraction lockers at Epic, correct?

The free in-queue lockers at the 3 attractions at Epic are nearly as large as the paid attraction lockers at USF and IOA, and much bigger (square instead of rectangular) than the free ones there.

Maybe I am wrong. I thought @WakandaForever would be looking at the larger lockers at IoA and US too?

Gotcha. I was thinking only about Epic.
